The engineer said 80W90 for a reason!!!! Running 75W90 is NOT spec!!! It's gonna blow up your truck!!!

That reminds me. 2 gallon jugs of gear oil are $40 at the farm store. It's warren oil so just as good as whatever the parts house sells. Got 3 Toyota diffs to fill and I want to do the transmission and cases on the crawler too

No you're absolutely right, I've seen that same remark and it makes me chuckle as well and I agree with you completely. And in my mind, weight limits are as much an issue as rust buckets ... so are obnoxious lifts to be fair. Don't know if they still do this (maybe @Yota X can confirm) by NJ used to put your rig on a platform that tilted a certain amount of degrees and if it toppled over you failed inspection AND now you've got a raisin of a body

That's why I appreciate MD where they basically say do whatever you want to your rig but if you want to sell it, it has to pass safety inspection then

Works pretty good as a steering fluid... I run bulk ISO32 in the crawler. ATF additives are a nono for the hydraulic assist ram according to PSC/TG

I was told the older yotas came with hydraulic fluid in the system and Toyota specd ATF since it's the closest 10W hydraulic fluid that's readily available everywhere

Interesting, that makes sense for your hydro assist all we run in our units here at work is ISO32 or 46 for a particularly hot region. But I didn't know that about old yotas! I totally get it, hydro fluid is impressive stuff
