    And here's my rant!

After reading about NASA and the Government basically clearing Toyota in the unintended acceleration debacle I’ve come to the following.
America needs to completely overhaul the expectation of drivers! People need to be held accountable for their actions behind the wheel. Vehicles need to digress from the electronic babysitting, stability control, heated seats, DVD playing, 20+ cup holders, split climate control extensions of our houses. The way drivers are licensed needs to be completely overhauled!
    Here’s my suggestion.

    1. Minimum age eligibility raised from 16 to 18.
    2. Mandatory driver training on vehicle control at the cost to the driver. To include a rally course, skid pad and evasive maneuvering
    3. Mandatory test on the operation and controls of your vehicle.
    4. DUI’s: First offense will result in mandatory loss of license for 5 years and 30 days jail time. Second offense will result in loss of license for 15 years and 90 days mandatory jail time. Third offense will result in permanent loss of license and 1 year in jail.
If you don’t agree with me that’s fine. My opinion is that people need to take driving seriously instead of thinking of it as a chore. People need to learn the rules of the road, abide by the rules of the road, know the limits and functions of their vehicles and finally be DEFENSIVE drivers!

    Yes, I've been drinking!

I agree on most of it but there is still no substitue for common sense. Until we can test for that and make the dumbshits of the world ride the bus we are stuck with morons who feel the need to blame everyone else for their poor decisions and stupid mistakes. I was a pretty good driver at 16. No accidents and 1 ticket in high school. I had to buy my own cars so damn sure took care of them and learned to keep them on the road out and fix them when they broke. I don't think age is as much of a factor as the values that people are taught now days.

honestly i think some people need to learn how to drive a little more offensivley. it seem like the asains and arabs in my community as scared of driving. like turning into traffic, they pass up opprotunities that everyone else would take. every morning i get stuck behind them on my way to school for a least 5 min waiting for them to turn when i could have been out of there in 30 sec

My truck only has 9 cup holders, so there.

If nothing else a mandatory refresher and test should be required ever 5-10 years to maintain an valid license.

im not just saying this cuz im a kid but some teenagers are better qualified that alot of other people i have seen on the roads.

but on the flip side there are some that just dont belong on the road at 16. my little brother is turning 14 in a couple months and there is no way he will be ready to drive by 16. even my parents think the same, they both thought i was and yet they know he wont be.

i think that it should be a skills test that determines your drivers license eligibility

What I didn't mention is that the process needs to start at the age of 16. You can begin the process for a license at the age of 16 but must be 18 to actually qualify for one. To do so you must meet certain requirements.

if u ask me old people(80+) have no reason to be driving. ive had 3 of them pull out right infront of me so that i had to lock up my breaks and sweave to avoid them. they have no depth perseption and no concept of flow of traffic

I could say the same about teen drivers .

Both ends of the spectrum , you shouldn't be so cavalier .
