This is such an interesting topic and I’m sorry OP that you’re having to deal with this. The dealership maybe correct in there findings and maybe not, none of us will ever know. They are just hoping that you agree to there findings and go away, I personally feel you have every right to have things made right for you. If it were me I’d definitely insist on a new vehicle, if they feel there are no issues and feel comfortable selling the truck you’re in now that’s on them, you’ll be driving in a vehicle that you know is sound.

Lol had the same happen to me years ago when I was a kid with an old Jeep Grand Cherokee. Started it up and got around the hood to check things out and it started spraying right when I was leaning in there, what a mess, got all over me, the car, the whole street. I was yelling and swearing til my stepdad came outta the house and said “You’d better check that you didn’t double gasket that filter.” I’ll never forget it, and I’ll (hopefully) never forget to check the old filter ever again. :D

one thing i learned from this thread, is now when i do my oil change i will start it up BEFORE i put the skid plate back on and check for leaks.

Sorry for the confusion. I wound up in the 21 last year shortly after taking the 18 in for service. Traded it, someone got a nice slightly used one for sure.

    Like, so many.
Man, I hate the dealership came up lacking, but I didn't expect much else. What's your next step?

10 bucks says if @Rannyhill was the one who fucked-up doing the oil change in his driveway, that same dealer would be recommending a new engine or at least a complete tear down to inspect the main and rod bearings.....

yep. I double gasketed a 73 Eldorado with a 500 cubic inch V8. Started spraying and I shut it down right away.

this absolutely this. They’d be recommending a 17 hour tear down on his dime.

Mine too. As I posted a while back, I’m sure if a guy botched his own oil change that it would also negatively impact any remaining warranty due to owner negligence.

I don't know if Krazie ruined his warranty with this, but its always a good read, especially considering this is a thread about oil changes.
