I left my tacoma at deer lease for about 6 weeks while I was battling covid back in December. The cowboys two dogs destroyed the paint job on my truck, I'm guessing they were chasing the chickens in his yard and my truck was the only "tree" around. My hunting rack was on the back so provided the only "tree" around. You can't make this stuff up!!!
Body shop guy says he doesn't think it will buff out and will probably need to be repainted. I'm worried he's going to come back and say they can compound the scratches out although you can clearly see primer through the cuts.
Thinking about going with a full camo wrap which I had on another hunting truck but it faded after about 3 years. Anyone have experience with wraps? Are they better quality, last longer, etc? Any recommendations in Houston, San Antonio or Austin at last resort?

Pics can't hurt, but OP's questions seem to be asking for input on wraps (not the paint the damage on his truck).

Rereading your original post (and OP's) I now see you're just here for the carnage. That said, let's see the pics!

I need to figure out how to post pics, I'm older than old school. My concern is if they repaint the sides, what the paint job going to look like in 3 or 4 years compared to the top of the cab? I threw the wrap in as a second option.

Without pics there isn't much we can tell you, it would be like pretending we are psychic. A competent body/paint shop can tell you what it will take to get it back in your desired condition.

I’m surprised no one kept the chicken toe nails trimmed.

If you can see primer then it can't be buffed out.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
I'm here because this thread is as close as I could get. I'm interested in repainting, my old 07 access can. It's in decent shape, but after almost 2 decades, I'm ready to invest some money in a new color.

The truck is mechanically extremely well maintained "clutch" could just use a new color..

What type of results could one expect from say a 4k paint job. Anyone have any personal experience? My dent guy talked me out of repainting. He said unless I want to pay 10k and take the cab off. I will hate it. Is that true? He did show me a taco he was working on, and he showed me runs, and clear coat chips (not his work)

    Thoughts?

He's fixing nasty dent Tuesday for 245.00

Hombre, A professional will be able to match your paint. To make it match there will have to be some polishing of the old surface that is not being repainted. It's called a tint and blend. I used to paint cars many years ago. If you find a quality specialist, you'll be fine and your truck will look great. The big problem is finding a good tech. Another issue is when you do find a good place, the wait is forever. Good luck!

First, are you wanting to repaint cuz the original paint is failing or are you just wanting to change the color?

The original silver is still amazing.. its purely "my choice" the paint looks as good as it did in 2007. I micro sand then chip fill rock and rust with the Toyota pens. So I've kept it up (except the plastic bumpers, they won't take the paint pens)

If that's the case then no way in hell am I repainting it. But if you're adamant about changing it and have the money to burn, then a complete color change done right (i.e. including engine bay, door jambs, etc.) is going to run you well north of 4k and be closer to what your dent guy said.
