I don’t think they have the internet where they sell those ugly trucks.

Gotta say, never was much of a Chevy fan, new one is looking pretty dang good. So much better than redneck stached Tundra.

Deal! And I’ll buy one with yours. The new interior is much better too.

I mean if you are keeping your vehicles for no more than a couple of years, then that wouldn’t be a bad choice at all. I think it looks great.

Domestic pick ups are very capable and have a lot of cool features and innovations, I just don’t trust the big 3 long term.

    Yeah, looks very nice.

Still wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole as an owner, especially with all the reports of very early lifter issues. With my money I'd go with an F150 with the 5.0 at this point.

My wife’s father has one with 250K on it, wasn’t very old, does travel across the country quite a bit in it, said he only had to put brakes on it so far…he has been long time Chevy guy.

Yeah, the F150 isn’t bad looking now either…diggin the Tremor trim. Dunno…have owned Toyotas for 30 years now…the current domestics has me looking over the fence for sure.

That... actually does not look like a 1995 cavalier. That's the first Chevy that I've seen with a decent interior.

    I am impressed.

    Yeah not bad!
The ‘21 was awful…look like something from Fischer Price. People bitched up a storm…apparently GM listened.

Yeah think I am over keeping vehicles long term anymore…not getting any younger. Have run all my Toyotas up to high miles…also have a very extensive list of repairs to get them to last that long too. Certainly don’t trust my 3rd Gen to last long with all the Chinese electronic bullshit they have now.

I’m not a conspiracy theory guy at all but the Hilux is the one conspiracy theory I hold onto. I’ve driven many Hiluxes overseas and they are hands down the greatest trucks ever made (can’t change my mind). They run forever with limited oil changes through crazy terrain and environments; and can be fixed with a screwdriver and a rock.

The US claims it’s for “emissions reasons” that it cannot be imported into America…I call bullshit. There’s plenty of turbo diesel 4 banger engines in plenty of other vehicles in America but somehow the Hilux is not allowed.

The actual reason (personal conspiracy theory) is that because the Hilux will never die, it’s basically the everlasting gobstopper of trucks. You can buy one and it’ll most likely outlive you. The US economy depends on consumerism and if everyone bought the one truck they’d have for the rest of their life, the auto market (huge national market) would dry up causing the economy to take a huge hit. In closing, the Hilux is not good for American consumerism, ipso facto, it’s a banned import.

This has been my TED talk, thanks for reading.

Underneath the 4th gen Tacoma will be a Hilux, and a Tundra, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, and eventually a 4Runner - all will be using the TNGA-F platform.

Those in charge seem to be fine with auto manufacturing jobs going south of the border. I don't see this trend changing soon. I can tell you the fit and finish of my made-in-texas 2020 tacoma is much better than my 2022 which was built in Baja. glue on the door panels, ruff edges on the plastic, etc. It seems to run well but there are cosmetic issues, not what you would expect from a Toyota.

That's the exact same sentiment from most people I met in the UK when I lived there. They hated the Hilux..."it wasn't a real truck" they would say. If I had 1£ for every time I was asked if I could import a Tacoma or a 5.0 Mustang for someone when I lived there! Grass is always greener.....

Have an OZ buddy in the mining industry, he hates the HiLux and Landcruiser, groans how slow and rough riding those things are since they always have to ride around in them at the sites…but him and his brother love the Ranger and Falcon Ute though.

Would tease me since I wanted an HiLux. “I want one!”….”No you don’t!”

I think you're talking about the 70 series.

While I also like Hilux and have driven/ridden in them quite a bit, I do not think they would do any better here than the Tacoma, possible worse. Reading enthusiast forums like this, you'd think everyone would have one, but high capacity/capability midsize or compact trucks just don't do well here.... emissions and safety concerns aside.

Closest thing we have here to hilux in design/cosmetics/capability is the current Ford Ranger, and they are not doing well.
