Taco PRO Owners: Interested in a spring upgrade for front?

Okay, got my Eibach springs installed today with the Headstrong 3-leaf AAL (1.5").

My measurements PRE install:
LF - 20 inches / RF -19.875 inches
LR - 20.25 inches / RR - 20.75 inches

Measurements POST install:
LF - 22 inches / RF - 21.875 inches
LR - 22.625 inches / RR - 22.875 inches

Looks like the springs added 2" at front and the AAL added a little over 2" at the rear. Also interesting that the AAL brought my left and right sides a little more even to one another at the rear than they were before. The ride is great, maybe even a little smoother at freeway speeds than before. Off road test was brief, but no noticeable issues and no rubbing. Still lots of room at UCAs and a little more room to cab mount than before but CMC is still happening tomorrow.

As it sits now.


I'm parked on a slight uphill slope here. The rear is about .75" higher than the front which I like. I know this lift is only a couple of inches difference but man my tires seem small now. Do I go all the way to 315s? I feel like the wheel wells aren't filled proportionally like they were before.

I didn't really notice until looking at these pics but the flat bottom of the spring hangs over quite a bit and also basically touches that 1st coil too. Did the OEM ones do that?

What AAL did you use?

Looks like we have the same truck (17 TRD PRO). How many miles do you have? I am assuming you are on the orginal shocks any ride difference, positive or negative after this was complete? Im on the orginal TRD PRO Wheel and 265/75/16 TOYO. Looking forward to the level

 

Whoah! Two inches!! I am having a new leaf pack built by Alcan, but was only going after a 1" lift over the OEM leaf pack, since most are putting in a 1" block. Now I'm worried because I do not want Bro Lean. I too think the rear should be about 3/4-1" taller than the front. Shit... What to do...

Yah, not sure where I got 0, but thanks for the correction. I've seen others say 13. I know wheels prior to 2020 are different, but did they change the offset or just go from gloss to matt?

 

Yep-same truck, officially turned 5 years old last month for me. I have 47,500 miles on mine. I put my SCS Ray 10's and Nitto 285's on at 1,500 miles.... so they're basically all I've ever known. The tires have a little tread left but they are starting to crack and chunk out at the edges (probably due to being 5 years old in the desert sun) so I am ready to replace. Shocks are original Pro setup and I would say the ride with new springs and AAL is the same if not slightly better than before.

I was sitting in your same boat of having to wait for stock on the Eibach springs but then hokiehunter19 stepped in and saved me by saying he had an extra brand new set that he was willing to sell.

Yeah, I didn't expect 2" nor did I expect it to be so precise of a difference at all corners. I thought I would see somewhere around 1.5" (with a 1/8" - 1/4" variation) between pre and post numbers. I opted to not go with the 1" block because that was being touted as a "leveling kit" with 1.5" at the front and 1" at the rear. I've always liked the factory rake of the rear sitting slightly higher and I didn't want to eliminate that so I opted for the Headstrong 1.5" 3 leaf AAL to maintain the factory relationship from front to back. The HS AAL arrived 2 days after I ordered it - super fast service!

Good luck with yours when it arrives and post it up afterward.

 

I think I'm going to email Alcan and have them adjust the leaf-pack to be closer to 1.5" to 2" instead.

Anyone getting vibrations with the 2020 springs and rear lift block? I installed the kit with 285 tires and to me it doesnt feel like the front shocks are dampening anything i am feeling all bumps. At 65mph my passenger seat is feeling vibrations. I realigned the truck twice and replaced the rims and tires, also added the carrier spacer.

I had the truck aligned twice
Swapped trd pro tires with my 4runner "same combo"

I had the springs swapped at a shop, only thing i can think of is maybe they didnt install the lower washer on the shock, my upper bushing wont compress and the nut has bottom out.

Side note my stock uca will hit the spring when the truck is lifted off the floor.

Steering wheel has no noticeable shake or vibration, only feel it at speeds and passenger side seat will shake noticeably. Thx for the help

 

I'm very far from being a credible source in this arena, but I'm a quick study/ spend too much time on here. Have you ruled out needle bearing or drive shaft vibes? That seems to be a common issue when lifting an OR (maybe all trims beyond the pro; though, I'd think your pro suspension would eliminate the common issue).

 

Not sure how i can pin point if its a driveshaft issue. I have seen post on replacement of the needle bearings. Would the steering wheel shake if there were needle bearing problems? I dont feel much at the steering wheel. The rear floor would probably be the most noticable. Any tips or tricks?.

Easy way to tell if it's the needle bearing: put the truck in 4hi and if the vibe goes away it's the needle bearing. If the vibe continues in 4hi it's something else.

 

Could be that the carrier bearing isn't properly aligned. I'm assuming you just dropped the bearing and put the spacer behind it. Did you add the spacer to eliminate the vibration?Something to try would be to remove the spacer and put the carrier bearing back exactly where it was and see if the vibration changes any.

 

My '18 OEM ones look like that, nothing to worry about.

 

i noticed in this pic that the end on the spring on top is right under the mounting bolt, would it not sit better if it was turned so it wasnt resting on the bolt.. humm..

Give them a call, they are super nice and helpful and will tell you when they will be back in.

 

I don't believe they are available to purchase anywhere else unless you find a private seller. A few posts above yours on the same page it looks like some guys have called to place orders a couple of days ago and the current ETA is July.

 

if they make it to port in July that'll be a September delivery
