New pain has reared its head and we're trying to figure that out now. Hoping things will be managed enough she can go home next week.

Thanks man. I spent the night here last night so my MIL could go home and sleep in a real bed since she stayed 3 days in a row. She plans to relieve me of duty tonight so I can go home. I'm just glad tonights nurse is one of the ones who actually cares. She said shed be on top of meds and will page the dr every hour until she gets answers for us.

The one last night was late by hours every time and told us she paged the wrong doctor and was waiting on them for hours.

That's insane but i can relate. We ended up trading the terrible wait and bedside manner of the hospitals within 5 minutes because we were treated like cattle. The hospital we prefer and to which we switch for the delivery and whatnot is 15 minutes down the hw legally... but i can make it in 5 if i ignore the idiots with blue/red flashers behind me.

But seriously hope your wife is doing better and they can figure it out.

UPDATE: Seems she's on the up. They advanced her diet to soft/puree foods and she's sleeping finally.

75% of the people I talked to while working at a "well known aftermarket parts chain" part time would
legitimately say that putting "Lucas" in there would be a permanent fix.

Let's say that I wasn't necessarily the one that hopeful people liked talking to at the counter.
One in particular was berating a younger employee about why it was so important and expensive
to do the timing belt service on a B-series Honda. The kid turned around and motioned towards me, "Ask him, he's the Honda guy."
Customer looks at me and says "What's so bad if I don't change the timing belt when it's suggested?"
I looked up and said, "Remember the Challenger accident?"

"That's what's gonna happen inside that engine when it breaks."
Needless to say he wasn't happy with me.

I'm starting to wonder if towing and camping on fire roads is enough to over-compress the pinion crush sleeve and cause my issue? I have read that it happens on higher HP setups, but would a wheezy 2TR-FE with a loaded bed be able to do the same?

    So. Many. Stickers.
If that were the case I would say that you have an outlier that was a flux as far as quality control. The rear axle in your 2.7 is pretty damn heavy it can take a hell of a lot more punishment than that engine can dish out.

I'm so paranoid about this. You're making me want to pull my third member and look.
