The game was epic. I thought the Pens chances were little once Domingue came in. He did well.

3OT, hardest fought game of the playoffs this far, Marathon in Manhattan a sportscaster called it appropriately. Replacement goalie really came through for the pens.

 

What do you guys think of the goal called back? It's a tough one. I can certainly see both sides. My thing is, a lot of people think since the D-man has contact that it should mean the forward can just continue towards the net. I didn't see any real attempt to get out of the way (especially his right leg.) I don't like the bull-rush towards the goalies, in general, so I tend to want to keep those guys safe from forwards making a b-line to the crease. It's a tough goal to get called back and Dumo for sure was leaning in, but as a d-man, he can't let the guy walk across the crease un-touched either. Very tough one to call but I think it was the right call.

I mean, NYR had 6 periods to score on our 2nd and 3rd goalie, so it's kind of tough to bitch, in the grand scheme. 1 thing for the Pens, is if Desmith is actually hurt, then you are starting Louie and having to call up D'Orio, who hasn't ever even played in the NHL. That would be brutal. I don't see Jarry coming back at all in this round.

 

So how many games is this? Intentionally to the head, feet in the air, and the player did go down the tunnel afterwards? Gotta be three right given the Clifford hit and how you pansies thought that was brutal and needed a game?

I think it's at least a game. It was so late and def jumped and lead to the head as initial contact point.

 

I thought it looked like contact with the head too. Did Lindgren leave the game during one of the OTs?

Maybe Zucker will be back soon. He would be an adequate replacement for Rakell. I am more concerned with getting some goalie depth.

 

Sounds possible for Zucker to be back soon. Desmith and Rakell are DTD. Sulli anticipates D-Orio to get called up. So ya, that is pretty wild to roll into tomorrow's game with your #3 and 4 goalie. Not a lot of experience there. That being said, I think LD is actually a pretty decent tender.
