    moron report for the day
I email a customer some updated designs and a bill for the changes
Customer replies: what changes? what bill?
Me: uhh....the changes that you requested on project A.
Customer: who told you to do that? Why are we being charged for this?
Me: uuhhhhh.... YOU told us to. *attaches previous email from him* And the charges are because we had already started making the stuff based on your approval of the original design as we've got to remake everythign and start over.
Customer: please hold on this. those changes were meant for project B not project A.
    Me:
Customer: project A needs to go back to the original design. that email was supposed to be referencing project B. When can you send the changes for B?
    Me: :smash:

had to leave it for the day so that our sales team can properly prepare him for TWO more bills, effectively paying twice for both A and B, as we had thrown out the original stuff for A and B was already in progress too.

I snapped a few pics of some of the garbage that passes for "good" at the new job. I have never seen such unskilled hackery in terms of assembly techniques that these people think are acceptable. A guy yesterday damaged a shaft in a 'slotter' machine that is being built by trying to install the shaft in between the frames without removing anything that was in the way. He jammed it into place with the overhead crane then wailed at it with a dead blow hammer. The dents in the ground finish of the shaft were horrible, so he tries to use a file and scotch brite to get rid of the damage.

I showed the supervisor at the end of the shift the damage on the shaft, he immediately said that it needed to be scrapped. I get there this morning and the bone head that damaged it had it half pulled apart and was beyond pissed that I said something. During the reassembly with a new shaft, he literally used a 3' pry bar trying to jam it together and left 2 big mare spots on 2 shafts. ( The new replacement one and the shaft direct below it that pulls the cardboard through the machine to cut slots into it ). I just walked away in complete disbelief.

I grab some parts to start a subassembly and saw the machine work on this bearing housing.

There is absolutely no edge distance left on this threaded hole, something that would be scrapped anywhere else. I show the supervisor and he says 'what's the problem? It will be fine, just use it"

Yes, it's the root of the thread poking through the steel. I could spend all day taking pics of things you just wouldn't believe that go on in this place. This company makes the machines that make corrugated boxes. I get depressed thinking that I had to take this job because I needed work so badly. The boss told me that he wanted me to take the lead man position in my work cell. I've been there a whole 6 weeks. I told him that I had ZERO interest in the position. I personally am giving myself 2 months to get a better position and get the hell out of this place.

bide your time, keep your head down. get the word out that you're looking. can't imagine that with all the "help wanted" signs everywhere you'll be looking for long if you got serious about it.
