You dragged that teardrop to USAL? What it the overhead clearance like on the road to get there? I was wondering if I could get my Basecamp 16X there?

Yeah Bowman is open. well the road is. The campground is still closed but there is dispersed camping up there.

Cool. I'm trying to figure out if I can drag my Basecamp 16X back there. So far the intel I have gotten says yes but oncoming traffic could be a pain in the ass. Having to back the trailer up hill long distances to a spot where traffic can pass could get interesting. I'm comfortable backing the trailer and I have a rear view camera so I think I'm gonna try it on a Thursday afternoon.

 

Was there in Dec with @TacoEspecial Might end up heading up there on Friday the 13th. Was planning Corral Hollow but still closed.

 

Looks like the 16x with AC is 9’ tall, so no worries at all getting it out and back. My Bean is a couple feet shorter in length and height, but I can’t remember anything overhead (low limbs, rocks, etc.). A month ago, 71Tattooguy and I went up past Usal a few miles, and there may have been some overhanging branches down to 10-15 feet, but when we went last, the gate was closed.

 

The 13th is coming quick!

 

Thanks for the info on the road to Usal. I found out recently that USAL stands for USA Lumber.

As far as backing uphill, we ran into that when Dino and I were coming down the sketchiest part on the way back to the gate and came across someone coming up the hill. Dino got out, asked nicely, saying I have a trailer, and the other guy elected to back up even though he had the right of way.

 

Stopped at Lake Alpine on the way hm from a couple days of camping near Sourgrass Trail.
Was a bunch of my fellow homebrews from Sac so more about beer camp with about dozen brews on tap but we did run the trail

Hello Fellow homebrewer! What club are you in? I belong to DOZE. Do you go to NCHF at Lake Frances? Are they having that this year?

 

If you end up going, can you share how passable Bowman Rd. From the vid on previous page it looks like some winching thru the snowy part.
