Favorite Whiskey?

Arrived today. See attached image of destroyed Elijah Craig Small Batch bottle.

Thankfully, the remaining bottles were unharmed.

I'll admit, I was worried when I saw they ship FedEx. I much prefer when companies use a competent shipping company (How is FedEx still in business? It was two days late too.)

I have emailed support pictures/video of the unboxing. They will either replace this bottle at no charge to me or they will get a chargeback on the ol' mastercard and I'm keeping the bourbon that actually arrived. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Update: They refunded the price of the bottle, but not the shipping. 3 star experience and a fair enough outcome. Super fast response to complaint, I'll give them that.

 

Uh oh. I just ordered Weller SR from the same company.

 

Packaging appeared fine for typical transport, I think FedEx literally just soccer ball'd the box from sort to sort.

 

So I knocked the top off this Knob Creek 9 tonight. Never tried Knob Creek before.

Maybe it just matches well with my palate but...

This tastes like a damn good value to me.

I find the flavor profile delicious and I usually expect bottles under $40 to be a lot harsher on the finish.

The 12 and 15 are now on the list, and this is in the 'widely available inexpensive standby' club.

 

What’s the availability for the 12 like in your area? I was in Hilton Head on vacation and perusing the liquor stores (as one does), and the lady at one store said they’d gotten it in, it’s very hard to find, won’t last long, blah blah blah.

So I bought one, haven’t opened it yet. To her credit I’ve never seen it anywhere.

 

Wasn't on the shelf at ABC, would probably have to be an online order or secondary for me.

Where are you, by the way? We might be around the corner from one another.

 

The KC store picks are all great, too. I pick one up every time because I know it’ll be a good bottle.

Tried the McKenna 10 again for the first time in years…a lot better than I remember. But, still just a $40 bourbon imo. Wouldn’t pay the increasing prices

I was at Total Wine today and they had McKenna on the shelf with "limit 1 per" sign. Think it was mid $50. I only had it once and wasn't impressed.

Tonight it's my favorite Scotch - Oban 14.

 

I’ve wanted to try Oban. Haven’t yet, but still in the plans.
Tonight I’m having the last of my Old Forester. Switching over to 1792 as my next go-to.

 

So I found a pretty good selection at a hole in the wall shop. Was able to grab Hibiki Harmony, IW Harper and also the Hibiki Coffey Malt. Also a buddy of mine gifted me a bottle of Blanton for my collection. It’s starting to grow. I will take a pic very soon.

Eagle Rare is my all time favorite sipping whiskey. Have a couple bottles also.
