Hooking led bars to my fog light harness. Switch is hooked up to power but it’s not working

I checked and followed what other forums have said and I still can’t get power to my wiring harness. I think the problem is somewhere in the fuse box connection to it’s relay as the relay only has one always hot point and the lead that’s supposed to get power when the headlights turn on doesn’t get power. I even tried running a fuse tap to the dead relay lead but no luck.

I saw in your other post your using aftermarket switches, how do you have those hooked up and was your truck prewired for fog lights?
I'm also assuming your right low beam turns on like it's supposed to? (that's where the control power comes from for the fog light relay)

 

White and green go to the two hots, red goes to the blue which goes to the relay and black is negative. The switch lights up when you turn on the headlights and brighter when you press the button. Yes it came pre wired for fogs, everything turns on correctly even the right hand low beam but I get no power past the relay

 

Not sure about the wiring designations on the switch (the CH4x4 switches I have use different colors).
The relay should have power on pins 1 and 5 with the low beams on, the switch needs to ground pin 2 of the relay to turn it on and pin 3 goes to the fog lights.
It looks like you have the auxiliary fuse box, if you do the fog light relay should be in there. The relay your pointing to shows to be the secondary air valve relay on a 14 model.

 

I'm not trying to be a Safety Sally here, but please once you get your electrical gremlins figured out, please use proper crimp connectors (and heat shrink). Electrical tape may dry and fall off down the road so to speak and you could be looking at an electrical fire potential there. I'm ok with using electrical tape for this step but please use a crimp connector. They are super cheap. Make sure you use the right size for the wire gauge.

I think I might have been looking at the wrong relay this whole time. I’ve been using a diagram off google and it said that one I was pointing at was the fog light relay oh boy if I plug a relay where your diagram says and it works I will shit bricks of joy my friend

 

The tapes there so they don’t touch and short while Im figuring it all out. But there are some places where I used a thicker electrical tape to hold stuff together

 

Yea on the earlier models that was indeed the fog relay, later models had it in the little auxillary box.
They should be labeled on your fuse box lids.

Plugged it in and I still have no power past the relay

 

Have you checked powers and grounds at the relay?
Pin 5 should have power at all times, Pin 1 should have power with the lowbeams on, and Pin 2 should have ground when the fog light switch is on.

Pin 2 always has ground

 

I ended up attaching both positives to the solid green wire and my negative to both the negatives on the attachment and then the power out to the solid blue and now it works.

Yea the White/Black and Blue are the 2 wires that the switch contacts need to be on, the Green and Green/White are the illumination circuit.
