 Hi folks, I'm back from my road trip to the NC wilds with wild folk from NC and elsewhere. It was a good drive on good roads with good people in good cars.

Here's some morning dew I woke up to on the last day of the road trip. This was in Warm Springs VA.

    warm_springs1.jpg

I met three fellows who were riding from the northern border of VA to the southern border and back again on motorcycles. But not on roads! They follow off-road tracks through public lands the whole way. Former motocrossers who aged out but still love to ride. They were using these. Looks like fun.

Ah, the joy of a day with just chores! Load of cardboard recycling...

Rex's cushion I got for my birthday matches nicely (why I asked for it!), and we're off!

Came home and loaded up a bunch of pots in a grey bin to go to the garden share spot. Rex was having conversations with their St. Bernard, and hippie Short Horn.

Now, I get to take my shoes off, get a , put my feet up, and relax! Everything worked perfectly, truck is quiet if I turn off the music, and first minute on my errand, "Low Rider" by War came on for an excellent sound check.

    Afternoon all:

    Some neat bird pics. Mark.

The good news is that home heating oil didn't jump for the last couple days, the bad news is that PPL is raising rates that they say will add about $34 a month to the average bill, I just read where natural gas is also spiking, getting it from all sides! :spending: :(

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!

Yesterday was "Stimulate the Economy Day" here at Mighty Mortgage Manor - I picked up and paid for my new golf clubs, paid for repairs on the chainsaw and blade trimmer and then bought a new weed trimmer and some misc stuff. Ouch!! :spending::eek:

The grass here is finally starting to grow consistently - mowed last Sunday and it needs to be cut again. I'll do some small projects this morning while Lynn is out doing Master Gardener stuff with the County and then head to the driving range to hit some balls with the new clubs. Lynn had a lesson while I was getting fitted for my new clubs so she's anxious to practice, too. Tomorrow starts a 9 hole summer league we are both playing in.

Carl: Look into K&N for oil filters. They are still made well. Also look at RedLine gear oils. High performance with a high flash point.

When I was working we had an office in Sandy. I had to visit them 3 times a year. Took a day off one year and visited Bonneville Salt Flats during time trials. Knocked an item off the bucket list.

    Good morning all,

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Got a list of things to do around the house and garden, and hoping for some almost promised rain to make me do other stuff inside. Looks weak for the rain though. We did get 0.08" of that storm that went through North SA last night - it thundered, and almost made it here....before it died.

Good morning. Finally a day when the sun is out in the morning and it's not raining. My utility trailer was stolen a couple of years ago and so I don't have a clean way to get a load of bulk mulch. At one time I had a loader dump a yard in the bed of the truck and I found crud in nooks and crannys for months. I think I'm going to tape cardboard over the holes, doors, and plug then remove the rubber mat. I'm going to get a couple of loads this weekend. My dirt is terrible after moving it around to build this patio.

Every automotive enthusiast ought to get a chance to exit the freeway at the Bonneville Speedway turnoff! Quite the amazing experience - both when the time trials are underway ....... and when the place is an empty white plain. All the years of my youth I eagerly looked at the photos in the magazines - exploits of the Summers Brothers and Mickey Thompson........ And then one day I found myself at the starting line watching a string of amazing vehicles pushed off to roar to the horizon, then drop right over the edge of the earth about 5-6 miles out! I don't know what their security measures are today but years back there was no problem with mingling with drivers, owners and crew, right at the start of the "black line" that ran out to the horizon. Yes, it definitely belongs on the bucket list........

You are so right. I occasionally will get off the exit when "goofing" off in Wendover. Sometimes in the spring when it's mushy, you'll have nuts go out and sink down to the axle in salt. It's a surreal view looking for miles on a white flat plane. The races are exciting. As a kid my late father used to take me out there every year and watch them.

WHen I dropped off the chainsaw and Echo blade trimmer for repair last week I saw a neat set-up for the Husqvarna Zero-turn to be ably to carry a trimmer along. I always hate having to walk down the hill to get the trimmer, then walk up and around the yard trimming the 5 or so places that need it. Now I can knock it out while mowing - stop, hop off, pull the trimmer and whack the grass/weeds. Of course, that turned out to be an excuse to get a new trimmer - got a Husqvarna 525 LST High Torque model. Installed the mount today.

Didn’t go fishing due to the wind so pulled the Scooter out and went for a blast..
Stopped by the boat launch on the river to watch some boats come in and out
And just take 30 min to think of nothing.

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!! Looks like today and much of tomorrow will be rainy and cold - next week we finally get into the 70s and 80s.

Lynn and I went out and hit some range balls. I'm thrilled with the new clubs! Tonight was supposed to be the start of our weekly 9 hole league....cold and rainy are the two times I hate to play so we're going to reschedule.

    Stay dry...and warm.
