What do you need to go on the beach at smiths point? Gotta be a resident or need a permit? Town of islip res here

 

A Suffolk resident needs a Green Key Card and the Outer Beach 4x4 Pass. You can get both at the Smith Point office at the beach access entrance.

No problem. I think it cost me around $130 or so for both. The 4x4 pass gives you access to a few Suffolk County beaches for wheeling.

 

Anyone got any fun first gen parts for sale?

bumper, suspension parts, etc?

 

they also sell a day pass

so if you ever want to check it out, or have people come in from out of state

the major thing to remember..... is they will physically come out and check that you have the entire gear list for the day passes...

if you buy a yearly they do Not check your rig for the gear list requirements

 

truth. They have never looked at my truck aside from a quick glance from the door when I got my pass..lol

 

BTW, predator steps I had for sale are gone, sold yesterday and the Husky floor mats are gone as well. Gave them to the guy that bought the steps as he had a 3rd Gen manual.

Hey all, new to owning a Tacoma (new to owning anything new), my first truck and I have been doing my best with work on it. All my experience has been straight from YouTube and manuals. Figured I’d give you guys a look, I also wanted to ask if anyone from the Long Island area has had a regear on their truck and if they would recommend. I’m running a 2.5” lift and 34” tires. The truck seems to have a little hesitation staying in a consistent gear at highway speeds.

You're in Suffolk, where would you be getting it done? I was looking to do the same since I am in the same boat as you and pretty much the same lift setup.

 

What do you mean by programming? Also I don’t know where to go for it, I was hoping someone here would be able to provide some insight. Regearing is one thing I think I’d rather leave to someone who knows what they’re doing.

 

Programming is a custom tune flashed onto the ECU, it corrects gear hunting, pedal response, fuel trims, etc. It's a performance enhancement that greatly helps the truck (from all accounts).

As for a re-gear, there are a few shops on the Island. I would likely be doing mine in my driveway as I am pretty handy and do all my own work. RMS in Suffolk is supposed to be pretty good, but I found them to be expensive. There is a shop in Queens that is supposed to be pretty good, I listened to the owner on the Off The Road Again Podcast. I will be checking them out if I don't feel like doing it in the driveway.

Definitely want to do the tune first and see if I even want a re-gear afterwards.

I was actually looking at putting together a tuning day and bringing a tuner in to do the work. I have a private spot with parking and a yard where he could tune trucks over the course of a day.

I just have to get a few more interested people.
