Yep. It's vhb. I took the bracket back off and bent it a little to square it up more to the pillar. Well see how it holds. I won't be happy till it's perfect. My curse in life.

Have you thought about using nutserts? You already drilled your fender. Why not the a-pillar?

easier to replace a fender versus patching holes in the main structure of the vehicle...and airbags.

 

on my tacoma i had to bend the bracket for my dobinsons snorkel to make it contour the pillar correctly. i think i had to do a double layer of tape as well.

 

That Is exactly what I did.

 

I may try the magnet route on mine...some of those fuckers are retardedly strong.

 

I ordered some roughly the same size as the bracket. Cant remember the lbs rating on them. Well see how it works.

 

Didn’t even think about the airbags are they at risk? Plenty of people have drillled the a-piller.

 

My neighbor drilled his but it was an older car and probably didn’t have curtain airbags.

Got the OVS 270 mounted.







5 grade 8 1/4-20 bolts per mounting bracket. Using cross bars near the steel mounts for the roof rack. Pretty solid.

I went to a EHS conference years ago and they had a speaker who shows up to jobsite accidents (involving severe injury and death). After showing gruesome pics of people caught in machinery and crushed by forklifts, he started talking about safety at home. He said if he ever sees people on riding mowers with kids on their lap he will stop and talk to them and try to get them to stop. He said he used to work for insurance companies and would show up and see kids with missing limbs and shit. He said the main culprit most of the time involved bees/wasps attacking causing the person to jump off the mower leading to the child being run over. Not telling you to stop, but just something I think about now as a father any time I see pics like this.

 

Good reminder. Don’t cut or run blades with him. Just ride around the neighborhood. He’s wearing ear plugs under his hat too. I also have a ROPS kit coming for the mower but still won’t mow with him.
