    Hello all,

Just bought a 2018 3rd Gen…Put 5100 Bilstein’s on the front to level it out a bit. (1.55” Second to last clip from the top).

Has anyone installed 275’s KO2 BFG’s without having any rubbing? Or did you have to trim a little bit.

Currently have the TRD Wheels and 265/70-17 KO2’s.

    Thanks everyone!

I have 275/70/17 K02’s on TRD 4Runner wheels. No rubbing or trimming.

Waiting on my 5100s to come in, was wondering how high id need to set them to clear the 275/70/17s I put on yesterday. Was supposed to do a spacer lift but changed my mind last minute

Clearing 275/70/17 with a proper lift, that allows full wheel articulation, has more to do with your wheel width and offset than the setting of the 5100s. Unless you stay on pavement, and never stuff a wheel, the 5100’s won’t prevent rubbing if it is going to rub.

In my case the 7” wide toyota wheels, with minimal offset are the key.

I put the 275/70/17 on a set of the 17x7 trd wheels like come on the 4 runners. But i saw on one of the dealers sights they dont recommend setting the 5100 at max setting of 2” on 4x4 models. So its sounding like im going to he ok maybe running on a lower setting. Not sure why couldnt run on 2” setting though honestly

Thanks! And did you do the same lift and clip height on the Bilsteins like I did as well?

I am lifted just under 2”, but have a winch and steel stub bumper so have replaced the factory springs with Old Man Emu 288’s set at the 1st clip up.

Nice! Ya don’t have anything on my truck upfront. I’m hoping to find someone that just did the 5100’s with the 1.55” in the front and has put 275’s. Couldn’t find anything thread on it

Only spacer lifts prevent rubbing/trimming. A “true lift”, such as 5100’s provide, do nothing to prevent rubbing/trimming as full travel is still available to the wheel.

Ahhh gotcha. So 275’s are out of the question, unless I trim, because of the lift I have.

I have 275/70/17 falken wildpeaks on TRD Pro sema wheels. My truck has a TRD lift kit which are bilstein 5100s iirc. 2" front 1" back lift.

    No rub whatsoever

Oh nice! I’m just wondering if the 275’s would rub if I didn’t go to the top ring on the Bilsteins? I Just did the 1.55” lift (second clip from the top). Any input with that?

I know nothing about that tbh. I had it installed at my local toyota dealership.

I think you are confused about what I’m saying. I have 275’s with a 5100 set up, on Toyota 7” wide rims, with no rubbing at all and no trimming required to fit.

What I’m trying to point out, is that lifting your vehicle does not prevent tire rubbing unless we are talking a spacer lift that prevents the wheels from travelling upwards into the wheel well when the suspension compresses.

You should be good. I ran 275/70r17 KO2’s on a stock suspension TRDOR. Only “rub” was when they were brand new and my alignment was shit. After alignment, everything was fine. I’ve stuffed both front tires at all different angles and three wheeled more than I care to admit. Still plenty of room between the tire and stock UCA. Where the rub could happen is at the bottom of the bumper, but it really just barely taps it. Again, after a few thousand miles, that went away.

Now I’m on a 1.5 - 2 inch front lift (never measured the hub to fender pre lift D’oh!) and it still doesn’t rub. I too run the TRD Pro 4Runner 17x7 rim.

Just did the 1.5" setting on this red Tacoma, still has stock 265s. My Tacoma in the background has 35s and is at the same 1.5" lift. Like said above, lift doesnt clear tires but wheels/offset/alignment/and trimming does.
You should clear just fine, probably just rub on the front mudflaps if you have those and maybe the front corner of the bumper. All easily heat moldable/trimmable with scissors if it does rub.

BFGs run on the smaller side of most tires on the market. If I remember correctly Falken, Nitto and Toyo run larger. I think my 265/70s look larger than my friend's set up. He has BFGSs on 4runner Pro wheels and they just look smaller for some reason.
