I had the longest outage yet in the last 14 months, 15 minutes of "searching" and no service.

My parents have enjoyed Starlink so far
They haven't noticed any outages, between not using it like the rest of us and the outages being so small. We had 6 people at their house the other weekend. Not once did anyone have an issue, notice an outage, or think it was too slow.

They have even noticed more dishys popping up around town.

    Just got this email:

    Portability Now Available
Starlink is excited to announce Portability as an add-on feature for all Starlink customers. Portability enables customers to temporarily move their Starlink to new locations and receive high-speed internet anywhere where Starlink provides active coverage within the same continent. To see active coverage areas, please view the Starlink Availability Map.

You can enable Portability for $25/month on your account page. Once enabled, Portability will take effect immediately, and you can disable Portability from your account page at any time.

To learn more about Starlink Portability, please read our FAQ page.

Thank you for being a Starlink customer!

    The Starlink team

The availability map above is surprising. I would have thought more of the USA would be active..

It's /active/ but they won't let you place service there.

 I think they've blocked out all the urban hexes from being 'service locations'. But under service portability they'll work just fine.

They did move my Service Address this week to a formerly unavailable cell.

I moved here in June 2021

The Wi-Fi scanner is kinda fun. The blue outline is roughly the shape of my house not including the garage I didn’t go into. Didn’t check the basement or upstairs either. The yellow X is where the router is at outside my back door in a weather proof box. I live in a rental so I can’t drill holes through the wall. I use a D-link mesh extender for normal use, this map reflects just the Starlink router coverage.

Not specifically Starlink related, but a wicked cool satellite tracking website. Uses Streetview imagery and overlays the position of each satellite so you know where to be looking
