Car engine?

Every other pickup truck smokes the 3rd gen Tacoma in acceleration. Ridgeline, Colorado, Frontier, even the new Ford Maverick kicks it's ass. The 3rd gen is underpowered, and it's because it has a Camry engine.

 

Then the second gen is even more underpowered because it has less ponnies.

 

Wrong. 2nd gen is lighter. Power to weight is real bubs.

 

then why does the 3 gen win it the quarter mile, and a 0-60 time?

 

I sold my LS3 Corvette and used the money to buy my Taco. Boy do I feel stupid now!

 

Comparing to other trucks in 1995 and 2005 Tacoma was much more competitive in acceleration. It has fallen to last place now.

 

I think we need some willing Tacoma members of each gen to hit the 1/4 mile track and prove who is faster. Some sources show the 2nd gen faster by .1, some show the 3rd gen faster by .1.

 

I mean Toyota did this already you know and the 3rd gen was faster....

 

Since when does Toyota publish 1/4 mile tests of their trucks?

Street cred and smoking Civic's was top of my requirement list when shopping for trucks.
