Sorry for the stupid question as I have not been on here in a while. What is the difference between the two, KDMAX Pro+ and the KDMAX Pro? Are these different from prior KDMAX from a year ago? Thanks and sorry for the redundant question.

Here is the info from the first post.

    November 14, 2021
    KDMax-Pro and KDMax Pro+

    - More usable and noticeable low end torque
    - Octane learning--good for Regular or Premium gas.
    - Improved/smoother shifting.
    - 4Lo tested- smooth and strong at low speeds.
    - More user friendly throttle settings/names and just three choices:

    Auto Transmission
    1. Sport throttle- Aggressive, linear (much like our Regular/aggressive now but optimized for less jerky low speed)
    2. Normal throttle- Used for Daily Driving but aggressive and linear (much like the old SLT but optimized and linear)
    3. Lite throttle- Like the Stock/WifeTip throttle but optimized to be linear and smooth

KDMax-Pro+- Most up to date and most popular. Holds gears a little longer. great for stock trucks and for heavy/Overlander trucks.

Yes. It’s very logical and “normal”

Thanks John for installing the PRO+ on my 2020. It has performed as advertised. And like everyone has stated before.... These trucks should have always performed this way. It is hard to understand, until you drive and feel it. It truly feels like the truck is lighter.

I had Dave @TWTaco tune my '21 with Pro+ and Sport throttle. Waited a while to write a review as I wanted to put some miles on it. With over 2K miles put on the tune and over 1000lbs in the bed for all those miles I'm confident saying anybody who is thinking about tuning should just do it. My truck holds gears better, has a noticeable increase in low end torque, and I get slightly better gas mileage around 15-16 (granted I essentially drive with a billboard in the bed). If I want to maintain 75mph with all the weight, wind drag, etc my truck usually will stay in 4th now, previously it would bounce erratically between 3rd and 4th. Anything under 70 will shift into the overdrive gears, lower RPMS, and my MPG is essentially the same as stock (around 18mpg).

    Hi Jade @fastand4.0
Thanks for taking the time to post your review. Sounds like you got some good miles in with the Pro+. It sounds like the Pro+ with Sport throttle was exactly what you needed.
You are toting a lot of weight around. Glad to hear your enjoying your truck with the Pro+ tune!

Can someone explain what the KDMAX tune does and, specifically on the Manual Transmission? I've seen a lot of folks say that improved throttle responsiveness and MPG, but what does the tune do to accomplish this? Thanks!

There are multiple maps in VFTuner to adjust. Throttle is just one of many.
The best way to experience the improvements is to drive a KDMax-Pro tuned truck.
Get with @Phich, he covers Houston and can get you fixed up.

Also, read the reviews from the Manual guys, there are many. Some are copied and pasted on the first post. A lot others are throughout the thread.

I got Pro + late November and have been very happy with the upgraded tune. I finally got to tow with it and WOW I had no problems or lack of power where I needed it. I was also much heavier than I would be as I had a second engine on the trailer, second transmission in the bed plus a bunch of other parts. Swapping motors so had to take everything down to where are doing the work. Truck tows so much better than my 09 TRD Sport did!

I went with the “Normal” throttle setting. Drives great under all conditions. I had 6.0 before this and Pro+ has been a great update.
