So, i was pumped to buy the new 2022 Tacoma TRD Sport and got the tech package along with the JBL SYSTEM w built in Sub which is great!!! amongst other stuff too….

but as i drive it…my God the throttle is so crazy and it accelerates so clunky and the transmission doesn’t know how to shift properly and its just so crazy! Is there a tune or something that can make it run smoother and not all that stuff?

Please tell me other people have this problem and how to overcome it?

not to mention when I’m cruise control, it doesn’t know how to maintain its speed on hills without it sounding like it’s going to blow itself up trying so hard to keep speed without shifting up/down

I mean with the shifting that it just seems that my throttle is super shallow and you can’t push it down much so it’s in its power ban but if you step on it… it sounds like it’s going to Rev out it might be bc i have a loud exhaust on it to‍♂️

    It's a secret
Well...the 3rd Gen Tacoma apparently happens to be the only truck that has an ECU A.I. algorithm that "learns" your driving habits and patterns over a certain period of time/mileage in order to give you what it decides is the actual proper stock tune for you...or something of that convoluted sort. You know, instead of the dummy-simple tune like other manufacturers install in their stock ECUs...

Learn patience and give it time to adapt...or teach yourself to adapt to it.

Nice truck, the problems you describe are the main complaints for this truck, other then that it’s really a great little truck. There are several different tunes you can install that mitigate most of that stuff. But, just drive it to 90 days, see how you 2 get along after that.

Have you tried the ECT button? Engine will rev higher before shifting.
