I've got a set of 2019 Sport wheels (17") that I just swapped out for SEMAs, front struts w/springs and rear shocks. Struts and shocks have 40k mostly highway miles on them.

Anyone work or have contacts with construction-type folks? Looking to get ballpark estimates to excavate around a house foundation, install some variant, likely, of a french drain - or some other design - to keep about an inch of water out of a dirt-floor basement of a 200 year old house. I'm guessing $20k, but that's just googling and guessing.

Any idea for cheap bulk 1/4 fuel hose? I need 80-100’ I think. Planning on making a 1000-1200’ crab trot line… I can find the bungie cord and nylon rope cheap enough but online this hose for a price I think is cheap enough.

Sorry can’t help you there but @RobP62 knows a lot of people.

Hmmm, not in residential and not north of Baltimore, but I'll ask around.

Whats your endgame? Just get standing water/flooding out of the basement space, or are you trying to use it for storage, or put a slab down eventually? Asking because a sump pump may be a better and more cost effective solution depending on your endgame.

I think right away the near-term vision is to keep it dry to keep the support beams from sinking if the ground stays wet. There's a sump pump but the ground isn't graded to send the water to it.

It may be a moot point though - going through VA who are sticklers about shit; makes inspections sometimes hard to pass, even with a plan to make it right.

    Thank you!

My experience was absolutely miserable when I was dealing with the VA inspector when I got my house 2 years ago. I can tell you this for sure- any existing problems need to be fixed before they sign off on anything. They don't care about what you plan to do, only the 'present day' condition of the property. They have ( if I remember correctly) 5 'grades' of property condition, level ( grade ?) 1 being brand new construction, grade ( level ?) 5 being a building that needs to be demo'd. My house was a foreclosure but in ok condition, mechanically everything worked fine and had a newer roof and replacement windows, just in dire need of a cosmetic interior overhaul/renovation. The inspector made a list that was 3 pages long, basically wanting the interior renovation done ( but very vague on precise failures, just generalizations ) and giving the property a grade 4 rating. My primary lender/broker told me that they weren't allowed to legally close on a loan on anything under a grade 3 rating. It became a major headache to get the inspector to spell out exactly what the hell she wanted to see in terms of repairs. It took 2 weeks before she would answer my calls directly to her, she refused to talk to either the selling or buying agent or the brokers office. I was ready to walk away from it, it made the 1st time home owners "experience" hands down THE most miserable sales experience that I've ever had to go through.

The realtor my wife works with said to check out https://barnardbuildingservice.com/ she said they are expensive but they do good work. They’ve done work on several properties they were selling. She said to request Curtis.

When was the house built? By support beams I assume you mean vertical columns of some kind that the 1st floor joists bear on? If vertical columns are not into any kind of concrete or brick foundation that’s red flag city. You’ll be dealing with settlement issues forever.

no experience with a VA inspection and actually did my own for my current house because in this market we were going to be forced to waive it anyway to be competitive.

if you can get past the inspection, putting a thin concrete topping or “mud slab” across the basement just to get water flowing to the sump is probably still more cost effective, and deepening the sump if you’re really concerned. It’s all about lowering your typical and storm event water table, so unless you are doing to dig your perimeter drain deeper than the current sump, it’s not going make a difference.

Forget snoods… trust me.. I’ve been running a trotline all my life in MD. Snoods create a big mess and things start getting tangled..Especially if you drop your line in a freezer between use and you don’t thaw it all the way before putting your line out. If you are doing it recreationally, just get a braided rope and twist it to put chicken necks straight through the line or if you are using clam bags, throw a slip knot in there. I hate a snood, but to each their own
