    Interesting, thanks for the recommendations. I had looked at clam bags as well but thought the snoods looked easier to deal with. Using the rope alone would save quite a bit of money too. I had not thought about that.

    No problem. Honestly, the rope itself might even cost more than you think a rope should lol. The braided line that I have is thick, and they last a good while if you take care of them. I have friends with the thin line and they just throw a slip knot in there for every chicken neck since they can’t twist the braid and slip the neck through. So that works too. Snoods certainly have there place, but I recall many early mornings with my father and a half frozen line and those daggone snoods getting hung up. And if you don’t replace them, they eventually just end up breaking off. Not using them just gets rid of one more thing that can cause problems.

    Clam bags are nice and I think they can pull more crabs sometimes. But if you are in a good spot, a single chicken neck spaced every 5-6ft does just fine.
