Was finally able to connect with Dusty. Seems for whatever reason my request for quote was lost. He's going to build up a set of ex511s with Hydras so I'm pretty stoked. Nice guy! By the time those wheels arrive I should have everything I need for this build.

Fat bike riders. Is there a reason to actually go with 26" wheels vs. 27.5"? Trying to narrow down my search and that seems to be about the only open question I have. I know there are a lot of other considerations, carbon vs. aluminum vs. steel, driveline components, suspension vs. rigid, etc. Wheel size is the one I can't really get my head around as to why so many manufacturers are still slapping on 26" wheels, makes me wonder if there's a hidden advantage to 26".

At least someone on here is out riding today. Enjoy @flipnidaho, just enough rain this morning to knock down the dust and make things tacky.

Dang, that’s basically what I’m looking at!

Hybrid is fine, but it’s V brakes, and $$$. 3 out of 4 bikes are short pull, so the V just feels….off. Besides, throwing on discs for rain and then I’d have V posts just hangin’ out.

I’m looking to go cheap, in case it gets nicked. That’s why I’m THINKING the 1220 could be a good route. Got it free, convert it to flat bar etc. But, that’s still work too.

Most likely - shit ‘em all, sell the 1220 without putting more into it. Sell the hybrid and use half of it to build the commuter.

    Thanks for the input!

Once I sort my shit out I’ll post in here with what I decide to do. I’m sure y’all are concerned……

I like the looks of that. Quite the retro look. I have a NOS Kona Unit 2-9 laying around that I am considering doing something similar with regards to an urban assault bike.

I can certainly appreciate a good milkshake, not some cheap shit made one by the hands of wackarnolds, wendys and so forth. I love good quality dark choco with two bannanas, hazenuts, my fav fav. Well earned after a good ride.

I’ll do some questionable things for a Chic-Fil-A cookies and cream milkshake. Feel like shit afterwards though.

Had a buddy at work fab a mount for my spare bench mount work stand. It's a bit overkill for my needs, whatever. It makes life on the road a bit easier and that's all that really matters to me.

I recently put the Softopper on, made some transport bags for the frame and wheels, and came up with a pretty decent method for long range transport/storage of my bike. Maybe I'll get photos of that setup posted soon.
