So I popped my hood this evening to this. I noticed something similar before but not so drastic. Any ideas? No, not a money shot. Im running it now to see if anything shows up.

Looks like coolant and I see some crusty stuff by the overflow tank, any leaks, overheating, low coolant, etc?

What about in the radiator itself, is it full?
Does the radiator cap look good?

Did you wash your truck with a pressure washer or at the car wash?

My radiator was totally full. At the top. Thats why Im getting a radiator cap. Maybe it wasnt releasing pressure.

@12retire, have you washed the truck recently with either a pressure washer/car wash, or foam cannon?
The wide spread of it, and the fact that it begins forward of the radiator makes me think it is an external source.

OP can confirm on the car wash / foam cannon theory, but more than likely it's coolant splatter assisted from airflow & fan.

I'm looking at where it begins, and where heavy concentrations are. Like a heavy concentration on a support rib, facing away from the radiator, above the battery. Then, showing that it starts all the way at the front where the hood sits on top of the grill. Not to mention, a radiator leak that large would have produced a very noticable smell. Not to mention, the steam cloud. And since all the runs are headed towards the windshield, that shows that it was either sprayed with the hood open, or sprayed on with enough pressure to get the stuff through grill/seals then sprayed with an industrial drying fan (like touchless carwash), or driven at speed shortly after the stuff was applied.
Since the radiator fan is shrouded, spray from the radiator would coat the engine much more heavily than the hood if assisted by the fan. If it was a hose, overflow cap, or radiator cap failing, the spray wouldn't be as widely spread and the point of heaviest concentration would indicate where the failure occured.
    But, thats just my guess.

I dont use a foam cannon. I think its coolant. I didnt know the coolant would change colors to white like that.

How bout this. Wash the truck, including the underside of the hood and the engine before you start throwing parts at it.
