Your unique mod on the 1st Gens

I finished this three spoke steering wheel. I made the leather wrap from scratch; fitting, cutting and stitching it all myself. The airbag cover is also lightly customized. It started as an IS cover but I've added a 3D printed and resin filled Toyota emblem and blacked out the lower strip (originally silver). This has to be the best fitting wrap I have had on a three spoke to date and the leather also feels fantastic in the hands! I've posted this one for sale on Offerup, but can sell it here as well if anyone is interested.

I've seen similarly redone ones on eBay in the $400-$500 range. I was offered $350 by someone on Offerup for this one, I can let you know if he falls through.

I'd like to swap a 2nd gen steering wheel in for radio controls, maybe I'll have to add a few extra steps to the already extra swap

I put an IS300 wheel in my truck so I could use the e-shift buttons on it as radio controls. I've yet to do the wiring part though.

Yup, that's pretty much the plan, the e-shift buttons would become volume and change track buttons.

 

Oddly enough, I have lately lol! Historically though, I have had a lot of idiotic offers too

Oh, it definitely will! I feel like this is THE steering wheel for all 90's to early 00's Toyotas.

 

Did you recover the leather? I’m totally down for one if you did.

 

By recover, do you mean add new leather over the existing? What I did was to completely replace the existing leather.

Got it. That's it in a nutshell. I take off the old stuff and then fit a piece of leather to the exact wheel (as opposed to using a pattern) and I find the end result is much better.
