I agree with this. Also Crutchfield fan because they have pretty detailed instructions for most models, and get the wiring adapters or harness so no splicing. Heck they even make adapters so steering wheel audio controls can still work.
You can do it...not rocket science.

Also a fan, when you call them they answer the phone -- and the person you are talking to knows what they are talking about. Top spec service.

I just got off the phone with my wife. She sounded in good spirits considering her day of testing. The had to transport her in a van, clear across town with a driver going super slow and yakking up a storm..my wife not much of a talker and also gets car sick easily....imagine her in a wheelchair in the back of this van...funny but not. So then she sits there for 45 minutes or so before anyone acknowledged she was even there...then some type of code blue emergency so she's wondering if she'll even get the test done...finally after 2 hours waiting they begin the procedure that took maybe 2 hours she said...then dropped her off in the wheelchair by the door waiting for the ride back..I laugh and ask if at that point was she considering a Uber:rofl:
No news of test, so still trying to stay positive thoughts.
I thank you all for the thoughts and concerns.

This fan shaft I'm working on is only 64.5 inches long. I'm going to turn it between centers. All I got done today was both ends center drilled and faced off to length. In order to center-drill and face the ends I had to turn a small area for the steady-rest to run, both sides. Trip to the band-saw in there to cut about a foot off. (The bar-stock was already set in the lathe...term set used loosely)
I couldn't find a center for the chuck / drive end that had a shoulder on it. I've had a part push back in the jaws because of that...once, lesson learned. So anyway I turned the piece on the left so it has a shoulder to butt up against, and I'll have to skim cut that angle (pointy thing) before I put the bar in and start turning. It has like 3 different diameters but most critical are short distance for the bearings.

I forgot to mention that I have a 4-jaw chuck that goes into the tail-stock. How I get it running true to cut the bearing area for the steady-rest.

Several of them. I'll try to remember and post a picture when I dig one up for this job. It's a fairly sure way to know that the bearing diameters are going to run true with each other.
This particular shaft doesn't have that much material to take of like other shafts I've made, and that caused that center to push back when I was hogging a bit. Always keep a eye on the live center and sometimes I'll put a fingertip on it to make sure decent engagement.

Sometimes on other shafts that we do, those get a very large key-way cut as a last process. Cutting that large amount of key makes the shaft bend...even when using so called stress relieved material.
Then I got to put the whammy on them in the press, check it press it repeat PIMA...

Yep... great set-up. I bought a new stereo for my wife's car. The harness & adaptors were spot on. I did have to do some soldering (but only because I'm anal, and won't use vampire taps anywhere), and even that was really only to make things neater. The instructions were spot-on, and everything worked perfectly... initially. The head unit turned out to be defective, but even that was not an issue. Called them, worked with the tech through a couple of e-mails and they said, it's f***ed... return it. They sent shipping labels... super easy.
