When I update the ECU to 04c21 does that also take care of T-SB-0045-21 at the same time or is this require a separate update. Once the update process is started how long should that take. Thank You

Yes, that update will satisfy everything the TSB would do. Most TSB's for updates are just that, symptoms and the resolution (update). There are a few tundra updates that also changed a fuel pump as well, but I have not seen it with the 3G Tacoma.

Can VFtuner be used for the ECU update or does it require Tech Stream? I have VFtuner that i used to upload previous tunes. Thank You

Currently you have to use Techstream. But it's in the works to do it from within vF.

Where are you located? Maybe there is someone nearby with VF that can come try a Gen2 Force Flash. If it doesn’t work your back to buying a $1200 ECU.

It can be recovered. Someone with vF software may be able to. Otherwise it’s possible to bench flash

@lapoltba has recovered quite a few

Agree, I know there are a dozen or more of us with bench flash harnesses around the country. Depending on the urgency and his location it may be able to be recovered quickly.

Unfortunately you have to buy the vFTuner Software and their own serialized Tactrix to use with your software license.

Yep, if you have the clear/grey Tactrix it won’t work with VF Tuner 1.6+, you’ll need to purchase the kit from VF for ~$390. However, that’s cheaper than a replacement ECU for ~$1200.

Do you know why your cuw failed? Did your voltage drop below 11.8? We’re you using a battery tender/power supply to maintain voltage during the cuw?

I couldn't get it to update, I kept getting an error. Looked like it was going to but failed. Couple questions, I was just using the CWU wizard i downloaded here. The error on the truck said break overide error, Tracktion control light and lsd lighis were on after it failed. The wizard kept saying to turn truck off for 10 seconds and turn back on and start the flash. I followed the directions but still failed.

Should wifi be on during the flash? I tried both ways to be honest. Not sure what else to try.

Think its because i have a maggy tune on it already?

Yes. EROM tunes like the Maggy and YotaWerx supercharger tunes change the ecu ID prefix from 89963- to V9663-, requiring you to first flash a non-erom tune to return it to a 89663- prefix, and then update via TS

You’ll need to use VF to flash your truck to a stock calibration that aligns with your current Maggy tune. If you’re 2020, could be 04B80 or B81, I’m assuming you’re trying to go to B82. So load the B80 or B81 (which ever matches your current Maggy tune) with VF Tuner. Then run the cuw to get you to B82, then load the B82 Maggy tune with VF.

    make sense?

Makes perfect sense now! Thank you!

I read the stock tune is in VF tune files somewhere correct.

correct; navigate to whatever drive you installed VF on (C-drive, unless you have more than one available to you) and go to Program Files x86 and VFTuner and within that directory you can find all the stock tune files for all the vehicles supported by VFTuner
