I think my other half is surprised I didn’t domino the entire wood floor I used loose tenons on our window casings.

 

Is it perfect? Na. Small gaps here and there from an uneven floor? Sure. But is it 1,000% better than what it was going to be? Absolutely.


Maybe I can finally put some baseboards in

 

Man if someone comes in looking that hard at your floor...tell them to get out!

 

Put the pasture wire up on my fence, no pics cause its hard to see. Also finished up a new plant area in the backyard. Needs another bush but the dog approves so far.

 

Will baseboards cover the bottom of the riser, Or would baseboard stop and start on each side of the riser?

 

It will stop and start at each end of the riser. So on the right side I’ll have to make a return or some other form of an end joint. The left side the baseboard will die right into the riser. The baseboards will be all flat stock. Here’s the general theme — the baseboards will match the width (height? thickness?) of the header and apron:

Call me a cheap fuck but my handy Dewalt biscuit joiner has never failed me. Other then Festool allowing for the ability to change depth and width of mortise why should I switch? Since I'm sure you've also used standard biscuit joiners there's got to be a reason you ponied up for the Festool. Truly curious to hear your thoughts.

 

There is absolutely zero play vertically or horizontally when the domino cutter is set to its tight cut setting so you can use the dominoes to register work to be perfectly flush and between the 2 machines you can go from a tiny 4mm x 20mm tenon all the way up to a 14mm x 140mm tenon , which is like 9/16 x 5 1/2"

I also have the DeWalt biscuit joiner but I'll be using it a lot less now

I talked to her about refinishing the cabinets. Her reply was "It's on the inside, no one will see it".

I don't think I want to touch them anyway. It will makes things easier, blending wise.

And yes I am. Work truck is a 96 Taco with 365K. Play truck is a very built 97 4Runner with 265K. The wife drives the 2009 4Runner and the 2021 Corolla Hatchback.

In reality work tools are one thing I don't skimp on. Just picked up the Skil cordless 10 1/4" and 7 1/4" worm drive saws a few months back. I literally haven't plugged a cord in for framing lumber cuts in that time. My old trusy Skil Mag just sits in the truck looking sad now. lol

 

I framed last 3 houses almost exclusively on battery power . Have a couple 6 1/2" 18V Makita saws plus a newer track compatible 36V Makita 7 1/4 . My only corded saws that I use are my chopsaws and my 10" and 16" Makita circular saws for timber work

I think I told you I also got a battery powered Metabo (Hitachi) framing nailer but I only use that if we don't have a compressor set up for my Senco Framepro 601's

 

Did you get rid of the 700? I’ve got the 700 and although it can do everything the 500 will do + a A LOT more… it’s kind of cumbersome on something thin.

 

Same. Next up I'm really thinking about picking up the DeWalt 20V 7 1/4" Miter saw for paint grade base and case. My DeWalt 12" DWS779 will always be the go to for stain grade but it's a heavy bastard. The only downside is the 7 1/4" is only single bevel. If they'd make that saw in dual bevel I'd already own it. lol

 

I kept it . Originally purchased the 700 to build some doors for my shop but ended up using it mostly for smaller work that would have been less awkward with the 500 so eventually picked up the 500 as well

 

I'm considering transitioning from the 18V Makita platform to the new Makita 40V Max tools

Just hired some child labor. These kids showed up at my door looking for work. Put them to work pulling weeds. The 100 bones I offered well worth it.
