Bringing up an old quote here, but how have the Option 1 RXTs been for you long term? I have a fiberglass shell, but I think option 1 is still the best option for me. Thanks

Im still running them at option 1. Normal everyday driving for me is fine (with a bed rack and Tepui Ayer II on the truck all the time). Truck sits level to match the way I have my coils set in the front.

When I get loaded up for a weekend of camping it does sag a bit more than Id like. But to be expected. I may consider going back to option 2 when I get a heavier RTT but we will see.

If just armor (bumper, sliders, skids) and no more extra weight than that constantly carried (no hardshell, RTT, etc.)
is there a difference between 2 and 3, besides lift? What makes one ideal?

Heaviest I've gone was towing a U-haul with the bed full, but that's not daily.

From what I understand, certain shocks (possibly Bilstein 5160) can bottom out and rip the bottom out of the shock body or hit it and clunk.
    Is this true?
I'm not sure if 2 vs 3 has different downtravel extended length, or if limit straps are needed

would it be better to take them apart, clean, and apply grease?

what's the best way to paint?
rust reformer followed by flat black?
Any prep work? Or maybe just scuff up, rinse, let dry?

I’m on option 1 with Tacoma pro suspension. I’m worried if option 2 will bottom out shock. Has anyone done option 2 with a Tacoma pro stock shocks?

am on option 3 and I think I hear my rear 5160’s bottom out rarely.
Planning to adjust them to option 2 as soon as I get the time, which I think will solve it

I run option 1 with a leer shell and ikamper rtt. Up front I have the stock OR shocks with a ¼” spacer. Ride is crazy smooth. Still has rake. Love it. B6244450-6962-4AD8-991D-77E6862B2876.jpg

Option 1 with all that weight? I'm surprised you still get rake. That's gotta be like 400lbs back there? Did you install them recently? I had great rake but it settled well. Little too well. I was about level with maybe 200lbs back there. Option 2 gave me some rake back.

They’ve been on for about 3 months. They settled a bit.

Thanks. I got them on with option 1 and very happy with it. As you said - crazy smooth. Still have rake

About to install the RXT Leafpacks on option 1 and have 2 questions.

    1. Which direction faces forward? I am assuming the double brackets and the double wrapped bushing are towards the front and the painted model number on the top and singe wrapped bushing mount faces the rear?

    2. Is there a bottom shim that sits between the axle and the leaf packs like the OEM has an angled one?

installing mine this wknd, hopefully. i read somewhere to not torque bolts down until weighted on tires and jump up on tailgate to cycle suspension cpl time first. is that referring to leaf bolts, ubolts, or both?
    thanks

The leafpack bolts that attach to the chassis. Torque the U-bolt axle bolts while its still up in the air.

did you have to get extended top hat bolts to fit those 1/4” spacers or no?

Nope. Had plenty of thread. Still some showing on top. You could get different nuts too.

Why the air? I was thinking if you get them decently tight airborne then let the truck fully sit on the suspension, it'll get everything naturally aligned and you'd want to torque to that. Otherwise I would wonder if the axle would be ever so slightly rotationally biased or something similar.
