    I owned two mopars, a 1970 RT440 Challenger and a 1967 Gtx 440. I also owned a Dodge truck and it came with a 440. Was that a car engine? :D

Lol. Yup. And on Saturday nights we'd do Angelos for cruise night. Some serious horsepower would show up there.

We used to sit on the staging light box with a bunch of beers. That was back when there were no rules. I don't know how many times I accidentally staged a car with my feet and got booted. But there was always the next weekend.

Uncle walked into a Chrysler dealership in 1970 to order a car to pull his travel trailer. Ended up with a Plymouth Fury Sport 440 sixpack with lower gearing and limited slip rear end. Bought it off him in 1975. Fun car with a truck engine!

Was this Lebanon Valley Speedway up in New York state? I was stationed in up state New York back in the 80's and a shipmate of mine use to slot race his Mustang at this drag strip on the weekends. I was his one man "pit crew". Man, that was a lot of fun! And guys would race just about anything there during the slot races.

I submit to you sir, that was a car engine that just happened to be placed in trucks. Oh, the travesty!!!

The 440 was a good engine. Along with the 383, they were some of the most reliable engines dodge made back in the day. I remember my dad, having a 1965 or 66 Dodge truck with a 383. Could not kill that engine. That Truck was Butt Fugly though. We did have a 68 Coronet with a 318, that use to break down all the time.

Funny how Honda takes a minivan with a car engine, hacks it up, and puts a bed in the back, and people on here scream that it's a legit Truck. Then Toyota puts a fairly advanced engine that puts out more bhp per CC than the older engine, and people on here scream "ITS A CAR!!"

Back in the late 60's and early 70's funny cars just began showing up here. It was something to actually see one make a full 1/4 mile pass without breaking. or blowing up....seeing 200+ mph speeds were awesome.

Had a 318 in my 85 Dodge Ramcharger. Did trails for years around Groveland, Ca. Yosemite winters...

Well that was a hell of a fun read. It seems like some 2nd gen guys just can’t stay out of this forum, desperately seeking our approval and to validate their reasons for staying in the 2nd gen. Funny stuff tbh lol

    OP

Is the Tacoma a truck? Yes, then the engine is a truck engine. Simple as that.

Yep, my old stomping grounds. I did some drag racing there with a 66 gto with a 421 super duty nascar engine in it i was able to get from a buddy with connections to a shop in north carolina. I use to drive the car to lebanon valley on sunday when i wasn't racing motocross that weekend and run my car. It wasn't very competitive bracket racing with a 4 spd., but i had fun turning low 12's with it, wasn't bad for driving it there, and back home.

All this talk about going Angelo's Burgers on Saturday nights to go cruising or going to OCIR is making me feel old right now even though I'm 60yrs old LOL !!!

I remember going to Angelo's few times when I was stationed aboard MCAS El Toro . I would get off duty and get in my 67 Mercury Cyclone and go enjoy cruising Katella Ave . Even would stop by the Burger King on Orange and Katella looking for some action on the street

Oh the days I had no duty I also spent many hours sitting in the bleachers at OCIR or racing my cars down that legendary track until it closed down in 1983

The track hired you guys to do security and traffic control towards the end. We used to give you guys beer for the best parking spots. Those were the days.

I bet we crossed paths at Angelos. I am a few years younger, but I was probably younger when I went to Angelos. Myself and friend would hit cruise night there with a 68 SS L78 camero. It was a beast as my buddy use to build sprint car motors and built a big rat motor for it and could run 10.44's. There was a really nice red 64 plymouth fury with aluminum front end and 426 wedge. And there was a dodge Aspen with a full detuned top fuel motor in it, that was claimed to run low 8's in street trim
