Intro to fitting 35s (< 3" Lifts for those that wheel and love alignments)

only one that appears to be in the correct position is passenger rear. Current caster measures far less than what it should be, based on what I have seen on this thread thus far. I appreciate the help!

They aren’t using the Spc’s to align your truck. They are doing it all off the lower cams.

Thats probably a good thing, 37s are a weird in between before 40s. You get in plenty of trouble with them, but you always want something bigger.

 

I’m thinking 37s while I build up for 40’s. Full hydro, new axle, cage etc. 37s are a min around here really.

 

How was the install, difficult? Estimate on time to cut and install? How mechanically inclined would you say you are?
Debating if this is something I could take on. Slim options in my area for this type of work.

 

It took me about 2 days to do my truck, tear down and cut off the old shit day 1, weld the new subframe in and reassemble on day 2. It wasnt a fun project though. Lining it up too a couple tries and a bit of grinding to fit, welding wasnt bad. Some guys can do it quicker, but i also had other shit i was working on.

If youve never welded on your truck, this probably isnt something you should start with. And you need to be able to remove all your suspension besides your diff and upper control arms.

The great thing about the kit is it locates its self pretty well, you might need to use a jack to press it into place, but its pretty hard to fuck up the alignment of it.

 

I have it in the back of my mind to bug you to death about hydro btw haha it’ll be a while though.

Sounds like you made good time. I'm a very novice welder. More of a weld grinder. Built my own cat-back exhaust, tool bed mounts, ...basic stuff. Cheap 120V harbor freight welder. I'd need to practice on similar gauged metal to verify I can get enough penetration.

I was concerned that the placement would be tricky so that's good to hear.

The tricky part about welding this kit is that your welding 1/4in to about 12 gauge steel. If your not careful you will just blow holes in the frame, or you wont get enough penetration. My welds arent perfect, but im happy with how mine came out.

 

Interesting that you are still running it at neutral, does the top not have that much effect if the lower is pushed all the way forward already? My initial though was you would want to run both the upper and lower all the way forward, but I guess that would make your castor angle mega shit, like pushing back toward zero.

Installing my SPCs today as the JBA HC are not working out and im rubbing like shit to correct camber, input would be greatly appreciated.

**EDIT** wow, just now seeing the taco tabs... I need for 3rd gen. That's tits.

 

Moving them forward 1 position did gain more clearance but it put my caster around 1-2 degrees. I opted for better caster and more hammer. I bottom out on my super bumps regularly and no rubbing.

 

Alright let's see how this goes then. I may just play with it and see. It's going to be a real shit drive to the alignment shop thats for sure...
