I believe the only thing they share is their displacement.

The codename for engine used for lexus nx is T24A-FTS.

The codename for engine used for Subaru ascent is FA24F. (According to wiki)

    Check build thread!
I work at a Toyota dealer, but sometimes my work takes me to Toyota Canada HQ (the one in Markham Ontario, just off the highway) and once you get talking to people you hear rumours.

Again, just to reiterate, nothing is confirmed, this is just what I’ve heard.

I'm pretty sure what you said is pretty accurate as quite a bit of people have said the same thing. Seeing what happened in the new tundra is a pretty big indicator as well.

Seen that mule in other shots, interesting to see when its gonna drop and final look, but nothing surprising, we knew it would be based on the same frame as Tundra and go coil rear with a 4 cylinder turbo powerplant. If it looks like the new Tundra I'm gonna be very disappointed.

I'm betting it will look a lot like the EV Tacoma but without the blocked out grille which i think looks pretty great.

This has probably been said. Toyota probably won't have anything to announce or show the public until next gen GM and Ford midsize trucks can be ordered from the dealer if not later.

Toyota probably has the final version of the new Tacoma reddy to roll, but would like to see what GM and Ford put out. Toyota probably does not want to rush to production like they did with the Tundra.

I still think the will be a 6 - 18 month lull in production between the last 3rd gen and fist 4th gen Tacoma rolls off the line.

Bet you’re right, the digital mock-up has the tailpipe on the drivers side, and a link arm for the rear suspension. Even though it is an EV prototype you can see they are using the new updated gasser chassis.

1/2 tons are becoming BOF Ridgeline competitors. The latest Ram1500 and The new Tundra being the closest rivals followed by F-150, the Lightning is already there, and GM being the most truck like, the GM electrics are heading to Ridgeline territory.

Given that the Ridgeline has better payload than the Tacoma and some 1/2 tons, that may not be a bad thing…

I know, seems that way, PMd with him a bit too over the years and on other forums, it’s unfortunate cause he was such a wealth of knowledge and would share for those of us who just speculate.

The front end is growing on me but the rear end is painful. And the quality issues are crazy, see something new on other forums everyday and the turbo wastegate issue is still popping up not limited to a bad batch as Toyota claimed at first.

You could just not click on the thread…
If the handlebar mustache grill is color coded it isn’t too bad. I agree the rear is awful, don’t care for how they did the bumper/bed sides. It is like they are trying too hard to be macho.

If I was in the market for a full-size, would buy a Ford or Chevy, never cared for the Tundra. 1st Gen wasn’t too bad, but that is what the Tacoma became.
