Scrapping the 'likes'

I'm sure many will disagree, but I'd love to see the 'like button' changed/modified. Personally, I use it as more of a bookmark; that way if I bounce around I can return to a thread and see where I had stopped reading. Sometimes I even catch myself liking a post that states that a family member might be ill or something of that nature; I don't necessarily like the post, but I know that I've read it. I'd much prefer a 'marked as read' feature. But that's just me.

I get your sentiment on the "bad news" posts... but I tend to rely on the "like" feature to let me know when my commentary is appreciated or not. I wouldn't be devastated to see it go, but I see value in it.

 

If you don't wanna like the thread, "watch" it instead. In the thread title section and on the right side, you should see "watch thread". Complete the options and you're done.

Xenforo also has extensions that allow for the facebook like emojis. But installing extensions can have downsides too.

I don't know how this forum's software works but there are others that the "like" button is more of a "response" emoji button with the standard thumbs up, laughing face, sad face, angry face, etc.

Get rid of "Messages" count too. I was banned on Feb 18th for posting a picture of a gas pump that I had filled my truck from about a week earlier. I returned from time-out on Mar 18th. I about 2 weeks later I noticed that my post count had gone from over 3,000 to about 1,800. If it can't be correct, it shouldn't be there at all. Now when I see some of these posters with like 65,000 posts, I become very suspicious.
