My sister changed her oil last night and then drove 300 miles to my house... Turns out she drained the transmission :spending::bananadead:

    Hey guys with daughters. @eon_blue

She can be a huge help when I need to get the flare nuts started on a fan clutch. Small hands and fingers give her a big advantage threading in tight places.

Yea I could do it after a long and painful ordeal.

i guess I should have checked and discovered that I need a new brake line before assuming I could use the one that came with the axle. it's been smashed up pretty well lol

Let's not foget the bigger issue; she ran her transmission with roughly half it's oil capacity?

Is the auto trans drain plug somehow close to the engine oil pan? On the manual they are far enough apart I can't really see how anyone could make that mistake. One is obviously on the transmission and the other under the engine

I've seen people post about it on 1st Gens as well, not just 2nd Gens.

    Guess people mistake them often.

Yeah same here, it just seems so odd to me that it happens so often. But I'm not familiar with the drain/fill plug layout on the autos

You'd really think it's obvious (cause really it is).

The pan on a 1st Gen is quite a bit back compared to the position of the motor.

Here's when I did the pan on the Tacoma.

Yeah that's the same area that the drain is on with the manuals. I'll just continue to be perplexed at how this happens so frequently lol.

It would probably be more common with manuals too if there were more people with them

The problem is the ifs. It blocks the oil pan view. Gotta get rid of it asap!

True I guess the skid plate being over the oil pan could throw someone off if they didn't know what it was
