Meanwhile, the 6th gen 4Runner is still basically a mystery.

 

@ajmogen any idea if that's really a 4th gen Tacoma already?

Or, maybe it's a facelift on the 3rd gen?

I can't imagine what else it would be, but I just don't know why they'd be in such a hurry to redesign it again. I could see them looking into a different engine option.

 

I watched this earlier this week. I assume that the 2.4 turbo will be the engine. I would guess that the body will be a combination of new landcruiser mixed with the tundra's fat face.https://youtu.be/78umMZe1_Ss

 

I think that the next tacoma will be a complete redesign and a new generation. No more v6 options

 

Yeah, the turbo 4, and probably a hybrid option are about All anyone seems to know, though. I'm curious if they're going to go more rugged, or more soccer mom, or what. I hope they focus more on off-road capability, since they have the Highlander for the family hauler crowd. But, we'll see.

 

I definitely see the V6 being gone. Hopefully these turbo 4 bangers end up being reliable.

 

I don't think there's anything wrong with a 4 cylinder turbo as long as the power is in the right place and the transmission gearing makes sense. Buy since that is impossible because of the EPA, It'll probably be a turd.
