    Still waiting on mine to be built, but I chose the Offroad for the rear locker and scratch & chip worthy bits such as the wheel well trim.

    TRD model specific:
    My understanding is that the axles are also beefier and gets me into the manual transmission that comes with lower gear ratios than an SR5. I also like that.

    When l said they cost the same, that relies on you picking the same configuration. The Sport is available in Access Cab with MT and the Off Road is not so that is why you see a lower price there. Compare them in the same configuration and they are exactly the same.

    I bought the OR because it was the biggest bang for my buck. Plus, crawl control that I’ve used like 3 times since I’ve had the truck… :anonymous:

    Depends on if you plan to replace the suspension. If yes than very little difference as you wouldn’t be asking if you needed the off-road features. If you plan not to change the suspension than you need to drive them to figure it out. The OR suspension has more control in bumps, the sport on exit ramps. Again If you don’t need the OR features it’s up to how you plan to drive it.

    We took my son’s DCSB 2WD SR to the lake this weekend for the first time (309 miles round trip - mostly highway at 75 mph speed limit). It did so well, I predict a DCLB 4WD SR5 in my future. If not looking for a 6MT or needing the rear locker, I believe the SR5 is a good option.

    I always thought the Sport was slightly better for towing. I have seen more trailers hitched to Sports than any other trim.

    Since OR and Sport are both available in 4WD and front wheel drive. There isn't much difference.

    I think the difference between them is only 100 pounds and only between 2 wheel drive models, the most common configurations have the same tow ratings llRC.

    A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
    This is fun. I like this conversation... Im currently running 2022 offroad shocks on my old 07 sport... The sports shocks were fine. But I picked up 2022 rims, wheels and shocks cheap as an upgrade..


    The sport shocks were fun, it road better riding through potholes or over speed bumps. But the offroad shocks are far far far better... At 65 going down a dirt road, they absorb the washboard apposed to skipping over it... offroading at low speed the suspension is the same. The offroad shocks raise the nose .5 inches but does .5 inches mean anything? Who knows.

    The rear differential is the big difference the only meaningful difference between the two.

    I got the sport because I didn’t need 4x4 at the time when I was single and was about that scoop life. And liked the firm suspension better. Just a preference

    I have a 2015 TRD Offroad with a mild 3” lift (OME medium springs in front, Dakar leafs rear) fairly stiff suspension especially with Goodrich KO2 Load Range E tires. I like the suspension and tires, definitely not a soft ride! Locking rear diff is seldom used, but great to have the extra capability. I think the OR is the best choice, but that is just my opinion.

    I had to have the 6ft bed.

    So my first choice was a TRD Off-Road DCLB 4X4. They are not available here in Canada. So I had to get a TRD Sport DCLB 4X4.

    Between the two, I simply like the looks and the extra traction aids of the Off-Road a little better. IMHO, City/Highway driving & the Skeewp is a bonus on the sport. A-Trac would have been another bonus if Toyota offered it on the sport.

    I went with OR because of:
    1. Locker
    2. No hood scoop
    3. Black fender flares
    At least that's how I justify it to myself. Really, it was more of an emotional decision; off road just sounds more hardcore. Drive both and get what you're more drawn to
