MESO Puddle Light build

I’m wondering what you’re gonna do with the footwells, pods and the v5 s.

And had to say your wiring looks nice. I’ve got some wires run through the firewall, just chilling, but they have a plan and it’s looks like ass right now. I had to buy zip ties, something I’ve done like twice in my life. Buying zip ties is like going to the bank for pennies.

 

You’ve got to squish the sides here and there. Don’t just pull it out straight. It’s made to prevent that. I never used soap, just massages the wires through taped to a chopstick or something. I had the pleasure of buying the v1 pods (2nd hand of a member) and also again I ran wires with the v5 turn signals. It’s not that bad though. Just an life sized, toy.

 

Well finally got both sides done that was a bitch and a half. Thanks for the words of encouragement, the snake method finally worked with some dish soap and multiple tries.

 

Newest issue is buttoning up this plastic pillar with the damn Meso harness in there

I have two plugs as well. I used a very tiny screw driver or something to remove the clip that holds both connectors. Also you can unclip both gray and white connectors from the clip that attached to the metal side to make more room.

This is getting expensive.

 

This is what I did too. Used a pocket screwdriver to detach the original grey plug from the white clip holder, slid the new white harness plug into its place for security, then shifted the remaining connections down the pillar. This allowed things to nestle nicely behind the cover and gave me extra slack for routing the wiring.

 

The Switchpro with custom mounting plate, Blue Sea components, KC wire hiders, a little loom and custom leftside switch panel did wonders for wire organization. I just try to plan extensively rather than winging it upon install.

I plan to use David's LED T Harness for the V5's rather than the built in option on Meso's puddles for my factory OEM LEDs since I want full stalk control with the rest of my DRL. Meso does not have an adapter yet and the puddle pass through for the V5's is always on by default.

So for the puddles I will not be going the switchpro route as is will not give me the three modes I desire without adding multiple relays. (ON-OFF-AUTO)

I will install them with the puddle switch once it's available and replace my ECT factory switch which I now have split with a Y harness for dual use with the Meso shifter. I wanted the OEM button to work on top of the stealth switch for people who drive the truck and aren't aware of the shifter button but I am running low on slots after installing the OEM glass break in my last blank.

I will also be using a three way splitter in the A pillar from DSIM for the footwells and puddles rather than doubling up on the Y splitter that came with the kits. It's getting crowded in there.

 

I'm just about doing the same exact thing as you. Except I'm going to connect the port installed LED Illumination kit to the MESO switch as well. The footwell lights that came with that LED port installed option I will leave as is though.

 

I inspected wiring harnesses from the pigtail at T harness all the way to the connection behind the door that connects to the puddle pod light itself. all vled connectors have the same wire and pin locations as seen in the images below. I can't seem to find any issue with the wire unless it got damaged somehow but I'm not sure what else to check.

I also swapped the puddle pod lights from passenger side to driver side just to rule out a possible bad led module but still blew a fuse after turning truck on with just the passenger light swapped so its def not a bad pod. The problem keeps going back to the wire harness between the T harness pigtail and the pod splitter in the door.

I'm back out of options for troubleshooting and still only have the passenger side functioning.

 

Looks like new colors. Anyone know if the pinouts have changed from before?

I would check for continuity between the white wire to any other wire and the white wire to chassis ground.

It's good that you ruled out the pods. It's only that cable running through the drivers side door that's left I believe. And, it is starting to sound like the wire has been cut and is now making contact with either another wire or ground.

 

It’s tough to tell the wiring but here’s what mine look like-

 

I just checked the wire closely for any kind of damage from both ends of the connector to the boot in the kick/jamb and the side mirror thru the door and neither end of the thick black cable was nicked or cut or would explain any type of short or exposed wire. These wires are pretty tough. How else would we explain how the driver side puddle pod works perfectly while connected while the truck isn't running? If there was a short, would it still work without starting the truck? Blows my mind how everything works exactly how it should until the truck starts.

 

Sorry you are experiencing issues. Double check the short black 4 wire extension(12”) that goes from interior door panel and through the hole to the outside led pods. I have seen cases where the 10mm bolts(3 in total)that hold the mirror on pinched the wire, thus shorting it to bare metal.

 

Could be a short or other on a 12V+ keyed source. Something could be bringing it to ground and would only cause issues when you turn on the truck.

 

Yes, it makes perfect sense. Of the 4 wires, one of them is tapped into the ignition source.
I think @MESO's suggestion is likely a good one (pinched by a bolt) because all your fidgeting hasn't made the issue go away. A cut wire would have to be in just the right spot for it to happen, and during troubleshooting the issue could vanish, but a pinched wire would hold in place pretty well.
