Favorite Whiskey?

I meant that quite literally…. When I typed that the Kentucky Derby was kicking off…. It was an amazing two mins…. Hahaha. Huge upset if you didn’t watch!! Scotch time? I only own Monkey Shoulder.. I like it, but I’m definitely more of a bourbon kind of guy.

 

Oohhh damn I checked 3 TWs for the 18 that day & struck out. HB wouldn't confirm nor deny inventory over the phone that day so I held off driving there from La Habra. Congrats on the bottle. Was in Atlanta over the weekend, had good luck at Tower liquor in the past…didn’t do too bad this time. All for retail, right at $100 for all three

 

Knob Creek 9 again tonight. I've been going way too hard on this stuff since I broke the seal. There are few things I like more than a delicious *and* affordable spirit.

Got lucky at a local store, they actually had quite a few and at retail too! First time I had seen it in the wild. Super sweet, easy drinker. Not super complex, but I think it will open up with a little time

 

If a box of these came in somewhere local I’d buy them all.

 

Old Smoky makes some great sipping products. This one here is one of my favorite after dinner drinks. I’m not very refined.

Last check in at ABC here they had Brothers and Isaac, but no John.

I got the Brothers.

 

When i see it I usually buy a few. I bought three bottles last time. But it’s my absolute favorite so….

 

Generally easy to get the Bros here, but haven't seen John. Watching for it though.

Luckily we have a pretty good selection in my area of inexpensive but good stuff. Knob 9, Four Roses Small Batch, Bowman Bros, Evan Williams, anything from Maker's is almost always on the shelf at MSRP, meaning under 40 a bottle for any of them.

The only stuff we barely ever get are the Buffalo Trace labels. Apparently the NC ABC board's relationship with BT is lukewarm.

Elijah Craig 18 can be hard to find too.

 

On a work trip in Nevada. Walked to a dumpy run down liquor store behind the hotel, and how about this:



They also had Knob Creek 12 and Widow Jane 10.

Edit: the lady there said they have Blanton’s at the Speedway across the street. For $200.

 

Nevada is a pretty good state for hunting. See if you can check out a total wine. It’s a fun store to shop.

 

I fly out of Reno Friday, so I have a plan to peruse the Total Wine there the night prior.

 

Lately they have had eagle rare and some other BT products in the back but you have to ask for it. I’ve seen lots of HHBIB 7yr on the shelves lately too.
