Baby tundra, looks like they're doing away with the suicide doors which is interesting for midsize, turbo 4 is likely although I don't see it being impossible to have a turbo 6 maybe in the pro version.

I would guess 2024 model available fall of 2023, I also would not call this rushing, this is clearly early stage testing as the front of those trucks has a different girl but the headlights are still 3rd gen headlights.

It's just funny that the Tacoma will likely be redesigned twice before we get a 4Runner update. Word around the campfire is that we won't see the 6th gen until sometime in 2024.

I don't see any need for a turbo 6, as the turbo 4's are making way better torque than the current options in both the Taco and 4R. I hear there might be a plug in hybrid as well, at least in the 4Runner. I'm guessing they'll have the same drivetrain options.

Yeah scrap the turbo 6 but definitely look for a hybrid option.

Note: 4Runner design and production is done in Japan which is why we don't see mules here

That time of year again. My dog takes great joy in finding, retrieving, then releasing said bunnies in the house. Easter egg type hunt with smelly consequences if not found.

I've been saying for years if I could get a removable top with Toyota reliability I'd be allll over that. Like if Toyota made a jeep. Mama mia

Like a new FJ that's modeled after the 40 and not the cruiser... Only it doesn't cost 60 grand?

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Removable top and doors, they already have bulletproof axles, And they've already got a robust manual transmission, pretty much have everything they need to make one of these. And literally make a no-frills vehicle. Don't do it Ford did and promise that there would be a bare bones basic Bronco and then not deliver one. Even the weakest Bronco is 50 grand and has every piece of tech and kit available and that's just too much.

If Toyota can sell an SR taco for 26 grand or less, they can definitely build an FJ42 with various trim packages starting at the same price point. Sure, make a TRD Pro that cost 55 grand and load it down with everything. But they need to have a stick shift, 4 cylinder option that cost 26 grand and has no extras in it. No frills, nothing fancy. Hell, give us steel wheels.

I wonder if Toyota is doing anything like at least a panoramic moonroof on the 6th gen.

If they attempt another FJ homage, I hope they don't half ass it again. Maybe they could offer a limited run of a 70 series, but with a CAFE friendly drivetrain. But guaranteed, that would cost a fortune.

Maybe a 4Runner trim with removable top would be the easiest way.

I don't see any reason for it to go up significantly. Toyota isn't going to price themselves out of the market.

Edit:. Everything is stupidly priced already, though.

4Runners have been edging higher than equivalently equiped Tacos for some time now though....
