F**king Ford!!!!

I am doing rear main seal and oil pan gasket on 1994 F150 with 4.9L inline 6. It is a HUGE PITA!! To exchange the oil pan gasket I need to pull transmission due to stupid cross member/suspension crap being in the way... Fucking tension arms bullshit crap! How fucking hard is it to do either straight axle or Upper & lower control arms? Any monkey with half a brain could design better truck. OMG... Took me 4 HOURS just to pull transmission due to rusted bolts, stubborn shifter and bunch of other fucked up shit.

removing the spare tire on tacoma.. sucks a fat one, we did a similar job last week at work i had to help carry the trany out it does suck..

one thing about that inline 6........that sumbitch has some balls. pulls like hell.

 

I am not mechanic by trade, just doing favor to my brother in law and already regretting it

those 4.9L in line 6 are goooood, this is my bros 93' only thing that has been changed is the alternator & evaporator

I actually find them slow, but good torque & durability

that pos is what I took to the junkyard for my tacoma. last winter at this time I also changed out the oilpan. I feel for you bro, yer a better man than me. after what I know now I wouldnt do it again for nothing or nobody. BUT, that truck lasted 16 years and 199,000 and weighed 6,500 lbs loaded with scrap and made it to the junkyard. good truck? bad truck? I wont buy another ford just because of the stupid shiznit they do to make them so hard to work on. if anybody is interested of the specifics let me know. I have a large list.

 

agree on the engine, but in regards of the rest of the comment, I find it a bit extreme. I would be happy if my Taco comes out as good as my brother truck.

YES exactly. The engine is decent... Considering in this truck it has been abused, ran down on oil and has 150k miles, it still runs strong...LOL

And yes again on stupid shiznit... U wouldn't believe how many road blocks I run into, just because the design... OMFG

 

I am a Ford truck owner as well as a Toyota Tacoma.
If you want to hate life a bit more do a spark plug change on a 03 Lightning.
Your hands and arms look like you tried to shave your neighbors cat!!!!!!
All vehicles have problems for sure, but I love it on the road courses and my Tacoma in the dirt!!

 

Yeah it does! especially in 4low + granny gear.

OP, it might have been easier to just pull the motor. When we rebuilt the 4.9L in my bronco we forgot to put that thin metal spacer between the motor and tranny and had all the bell housing bolts/motor mounts torqued before we realized, it was back out and in within an hour since there is enough room under that hood for a few dead bodies lol.

 

The next thing he changes should be those running boards.

 

My uncle is a Toyota man but he loves seeing fords come into his shop he says darn things are keeping me in business lol
