I don't remember which I had on it. whether stock or wildpeaks. I actually had to use the crawl control to get out vs just 4wd. You're also not imagining the driveway, just assuming it was slippery.

I have the OR, much prefer the appearance of it and like having a locker. That being said I’ve only used it like 2 or 3 times and I probably didn’t need it 2 of those times. The regular 4x4 will serve the majority of Tacoma owners just fine.

The suspension can be changed but you need to decide what you need it for and if you’re going to put money into changing parts.

If you’re gonna leave it completely stock, get the OR. If you’re gonna get better aftermarket suspension, maybe lockers, then get the Sport.

If I ever change trucks again, I’ll go for ACMT. Only the Sport offers that package as of this year.

I live on a mountain that is what they call em around here at 1600 feet and believe me it can be icy, snowy and slippery. I have not had any issues leaving my driveway to go down to town. A little bit scary sometimes but never ended in the ditch. Once these tires need replacing I will get something with more thread but also has to be quiet on the roads like my Destinations.

Damn drive way was sketchy as shit, a solid 45 degree incline and a lake 30 feet from the bottom.

It was in Tupper lake. We aren't what I would call strangers to cold and snow in upstate NY

I'm still waiting on my first taco but decided on the OR because I feel the suspension and locker is a must in my area.

I like/d the hood scoop on my Sport and briefly thought about putting a Knight Industries Two Thousand "Cylon" light bar in there (oldies will get that mashup..) BUT when I started off-roading I soon discovered that not only did I need to disconnect that damn seatbelt buzzer (thank you Techstream!) but I also lose several feet of viewing the trail ahead due to the hood scoop. Still wavering if I want to trade it for a non-scooped hood or not...

    2wd - get a Sport.
    4wd - get an Offroad.

I always wonder about this argument. The scoop pokes up about 3 inches. From my vantage that eliminates about 6-10 inches of viewable terrain on level ground. Add that to the rough 6-8 ish feet of blind spot from stock hood height, and it doesn't seem to be so bad. The only point where it annoys is on a sharp crest, which will be mostly blind with scoop or without. In that situation I'm about 1-2 feet more blind-ed by the scoop.

Unless your eyes are level with the dash, of course. Everyone's perspective may vary.

The cab size on the Sport is larger than the cab size in a Offroad?

For one, I prefer the OR's non-painted flares ... less paint to scratch.

Not interested in taking it off road other than maybe just a standard dirt road, and didn't want the off road suspension.

Ultimately would have taken either but the sport was the first to show up.

    No.

In some markets, you're configurations are limited. You can either get a 6 ft bed with an Access Cab, or a 5 ft bed with a Double Cab. You cannot get a Double-Cab with Long (6') bed in some markets. So if you want the bigger cab and the long bed, the decision is made for you...

If you're paying MSRP, the Offroad is an undeniable better purchase for the price. The Sport is an appearance package for the SR5, the Offroad has mechanical upgrades.
