Man I have a set in the garage I haven't tried but maybe I need to.

Is that the 100cc One Up pump? My old pump/mount doesn't fit on the Following and I've been meaning to get something new. Just been rolling the dice with no inflation for a couple months.

Not mounted to my frame but I’m digging the 100cc and EDC tool integration. Just stuff it in my pack but works well and the multi tool is actually useful. It’ll see frame mount duty on a bike packing trip later this year.

Nice. I have one in my backpack with a co2 canister at all times. the head of the pump doubles as a co2 inflator so, everything you need is right there, short of bacon strips but I have. separate system for bacon strips and valves and stuff. Very compact, very nice. I don't have it connected to my bike though.

Carrying a pump and CO2/inflator always seemed unnecessary to me. What am I missing? Only real advantage I can see is seating a tire bead that won't seat with with a pump. But if you lose a tire on the trail you probably lost sealant and potentially even have tire damage and need a tube anyways. At least with this setup you already have the inflator so adding a CO2 canister isn't too heavy, I just never understood the need for both.

it's just so much quicker and easier to fill the tube/tire. Ironically, I don't like pumping the pump just to fill up the tire so.....yeah.

So then why carry a pump at all? Since I needed a new inflation device I was recently thinking all this over. I was tempted to just buy an inflator and skip the pump completely?

because the co2 only gets you so far in some tires. the pump helps top off the pressure.

I’m really liking the PNW grips. Can’t say I’ve tried a ton of brands as I’ve always just run Ergon. So far I’d say I like the PNW just as much if not more.

Yes that’s the 100cc. I really the Oneup tool ecosystem. I’ve got the bottle mount pump holder dealing on both my bikes. For most my rides I just swap the pump and dakine hotlaps from bike to bike and ride without pack of kind.

C02 is faster. Pump is unlimited air assuming the pump doesn't explode...

    That said.

CO2 is dead to me after 2 canisters and a plug didn't fill my tire and left me walking 5 miles back to the car and missing an epic downhill.
Granted it was mostly operator error...I'll go for the slow sure method.

    Another L for CO2

The waste. Unless you are making tweaker art of course...

Can anyone recommend an affordable ( under 1,000$) reliable e bike ? Looking to use one as a commuter to work. The ride is about 4 miles to get there, with some big hills.

This may have been mentioned already and I missed it, but one of the best sources for inexpensive namebrand jerseys is actually Rocky Mountain ATV/MC:

nice!... Bike and truck gotta match!

That assegai out back all the traction! I might suggest picking up a DHR2 for the back and saving the Assegai for the front. Assegai was great outback on the downs, but def pretty sluggish as far as rolling resistance.

Can confirm you should really carry a pump. Had to air up twice when a tube I was given had a hole in it, so that canister was wasted. Had to find someone with a pump I could use. Also carry the bigger CO2 cartridges. The smaller ones don't have enoughu umph for larger MTB tires

By hotlaps do you mean the little gripper frame pack? Where do you install it on your Following? There is really limited real estate on the Evil bikes. I'd love to be able to ditch my hip pack for shorter rides. With the One Up pump/tool and a tube on the frame I could do it without being too worried.

Those have kind of been my thoughts on the CO2 I just have no first hand experience to back it up.

If everything goes great...Co2 is best...

For some reason in my life most of the time things don't go great..

We're literally carrying these things for the instances when things don't go great, so the infinite reliable air of a pump has always made most sense to me. But I guess if I have a pump with an inflator it's a nice option to be able throw in a CO2 canister and have best of both on hand.
