an ak-47. The reason I want a gun like this is not for home defense, but for hog hunting. Here in Texas these hogs can get pretty big, and I would like to have the peace of mind to have 29 of more bullets if the 1st one just pisses the hog off.
So my question is, where can I get a good new or used AK for a low price? Or if you have any other suggestions for hog hunting, I am open to suggestions.

thanks I will look into those when I get home.
for some reason the school district I work at thinks it is inappropriate to look at guns while at school.

Fort Worth gun show....granddaddy of 'em all. I think it's comin up again here soon. Since the assault rifle ban being lifted, there are tons of AK's. Some at pretty decent prices too.

budsgunshop.com has had several AKs for sale in the past.

Either wood stock or synthetic and their prices are very competitive.

    Give them a look, too.

The 7.62x39 cartridge is rather light for hog hunting. You'd have to depend on head shots.

I use a lever action 94 in 30-30 over open sights for hogs. It handles fast in the brush and has enough oomph too get that boar's attention.

PUMA has a new line of lever action rifles in 45-70 that are suitable for bear hunting. It would work great on hogs.

x2 I think you would be better off with a rifle that can get the job done with one round not an AK that may require a magful

First, AKs are not all that accurate. I'd look at something else.
Second, how many rounds can you hunt with legally in Texas? Here in AZ, you can only hunt with 5 rounds with a rifle.

Yes indeed make sure you are legal if you do so.
An SKS para/shorty may be a better pick. I had a 5 round mag set up in one a long time ago so you may be able to get one still.

from this website, it says there is no limit. I hunt with a guy who uses a .308 and another that uses a bow. We get pretty close to them so I think an AK would be accurate enough from about 50-100 yds out.
I got treed once before with my bow, this boar looked like pinhead from the hellraiser movies, and I swore I would never hunt those suckers again without more firepower.

I'll also recommend the local gun shows (Ft Worth is this weekend). All the big dealers usually hit the Ft Worth, Dallas, and Big Town (Mesquite) shows, and there are usually a few AKs floating around.

You might also consider registering at AR15.com and keeping an eye on the Equipment Exchange.

So I see alot of great deals on the internet, and I am interested to find out which ones you guys prefer. It looks like the Arsenal Ak's are the cream, but I dont want to spend 900.00 for an AK. I would like to spend no more than 500.00.
classicarms.com (you have to scroll down on the home page to see the guns)

This is the website that I have found some pretty good deals. So out of these on this website what one would be the best bang for the buck.

    Thanks for your help.
