Good questions, I haven't personally noticed any sound or movement of the boards when they're all laying flat even when off road. The only time I've seen them move is if you have two flat and one on top with nothing holding it down. If all 3 are stacked at the forward end I haven't seen them move at all either.

Your 1x6" boards would work perfectly to give the boards some extra support but I don't really recommend it since the boards are strong enough as is and it clogs up your bed with more wood. It's a personal preference thing, if you want even more stiffness then go for it!

for your extension kit, do you have legs that fit the Mountain Hatch Tailgate? Because those aren't recessed like the oem ones.

Good question, I do not at this point.
You could try trimming the base of the legs to account for the difference in height.
But I'd personally rather put a notch in the Mountain Hatch since the notch helps keep the legs well located at the base similar to the stock tailgate.

I have a home built platform as well, this looks really nice too. I ordered some non slip carpet pads that have adhesive on one side and padding on the other. Cut them to size and they work perfectly. I didn't have any rattling before but it will wear on slight rubbing against the composite bed.

I'd assume so if there's no weight on top. You can always line your bed or the panels with a thin layer of foam to prevent it.

A little bit of this, and a little bit of that.
Alright. So I've had the Bam Bed for about 2 weeks now, and here is my completely honest review of them. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The fit is absolutely perfect, and the quality is amazing. The ONLY possible gripe that I can think of (which isn't even really a gripe for certain people) is that they come unfinished(no sealer on them) which I actually like because I was planning on sanding and staining them myself for my own personal touch on them, but because they already came sanded down and ready for stain, it was the easiest stain job I have ever had. I had some worries about the panels bouncing around/chattering when I was driving, but there is no audible noise from the beds, even with no weight on top, and no foam under the boards. The boards fit PERFECTLY, so they're tight in the bed, and don't have any chance to rattle around/slide around, which is absolutely amazing. The only time that I had the boards move is when I fucked up, was pulling out of a parking lot, and didn't see the foot-deep pothole in the middle of the low-speed turn, and it BOUNCED the hell out of my truck, and the boards bounced around and sort of 'popped' out of place, and I don't count that on the boards at all. I have had a chance to go camping a few days since the boards showed up, and I am nothing but impressed. I was expecting there to be a decent bit of springiness to them when sleeping on them, just because they are relatively thin wood, but there was almost none, which I was extremely happy about. Everything about the board is perfectly set up for the bed, with the handholes in the board making it unbelievably easy to move around/readjust the boards. The only downside I can think of (and this is mainly because of my truck) but with the short bed Tacoma with the extender option, it is a little annoying having the extra panel, but honestly, it is worth the "hassle" of having it. I have found that with the bed tie-down points on the floor of the bed, I run a single strap through one of the handholds on the extender board, making it so that when I'm driving, it doesn't slam around/bounce around when driving.

The pricepoint is AMAZING for the quality of the product, and the speed of the product. At first, I was planning on building my own system, but when I looked at the price of materials and the amount of time I would have to put into this to make it somewhat decent quality, I figured that I'd take the chance on the Bam Bed and save myself some trouble of making the boards myself. the amount of detail and planning in the design of these boards is TOP notch, with specific notches/slots in the board to fit into the bed of the truck PERFECTLY. On top of everything, I ordered these on a Weds morning, and they were on my doorstep the next Monday night, and I'm in Montana, and I'm used to stuff taking ages to get to me, just based on my location, but this was way faster than I was expecting.

Everything about these boards is top notch. the price point, the level of detail, the construction, the customer service, the fit, the finish, everything. To top it all off, when the boards showed up, there was even a handwritten note from Ben thanking me for my purchase.

If given the chance and the need, I would buy these boards again 100% without question. Everything is top-notch about the Bam Bed, and if anyone is thinking about getting one, you won't regret it at all.

Reading back over this, it kinda seems like a paid review or something stupid like that, but none of that. I just REALLY FUCKING LIKE IT and wanted to write about some of my initial concerns, how the bed performs in actual practice, and day-to-day use/driving.

Long story short - Got bed. Bed amazing. zero issues at all. the price point is incredible for the quality of the product. 100% worth every penny and then some. Would 100% buy it again.

@BamBeds OMG this is genius and simple.

Total weight? If I am reading right, 22 pounds per panel for 66 pounds?

And it may be in the details and I missed it, but what is the clearance underneath for storage?

Thank you! You are correct, 66lbs for the whole long bed set.
The clearance beneath is a little over 9 inches but the great part about the design is that if you have something taller, you can just put the aft-board on top of the mid-board to accommodate the larger item.

Just sold my setup for almost what I paid for in material. Ordered a set from you. Is there a way to add the extension later if I choose to?

    Thank you!
Yes, you can order the extension kit separately. I've added another product to the website for an order of the extension kit alone.
As you'll notice, It's a better value if you order the extension as an add-on with the short bed set since there are not two separate shipments.
