Did you already turn in the loaner and start driving your truck again?

And to be clear “replacement of truck” means you trading in your truck for a new one correct? I still see that senecio ending with you paying something out of pocket. What a mess man and I feel for you brother. I hope when this finally come to an end you are happy with the outcome.

I had a similar thing happen to me recently.

I had all the unkind thoughts you’ve had, too.

Turns out the new filter’s gasket had a tiny defect that did not show up when the shop ran the truck after changing the oil. But when I got onto the freeway and put pressure and heat into the equation, the gasket blew.

    Just dumb luck.

The shop towed it back, redid the service, and I’ve been happy since.

Don’t forget it’s still a Toyota. A few hundred yards without oil won’t kill it.

Or completely forgot to install the o-ring. Or forgot to tighten the plug.

Stories like this is why I don't trust anyone hardly these days working on my truck.

First oil change on my brand new truck (Bought in Aug. of 2021) from the dealership didn't leak oil, but damn if the dullards left oil every where underneath when removing the oil filter. Was very sloppy.

    Just some stuff...
It's a damn shame given the amount of money people are paying for new trucks these days that you can't trust a dealership to do something as simple as an oil change. Of all places you would think a dealership should be able to get that right. It's supposed to be one of the perks of buying brand new. Damnit, I was about to go on a rant, but it won't help the op. But yeah, this kind of crap just really irks me and I'm sure everybody else (captain obvious I guess).

The problem here is the higher possibility the engine may fail prematurely but outside the warranty. That’s what the OP was worried about.

Was at the dealership yesterday for my 4th oil change and decided to go back to the Toyota windshield wipers instead of paying $60+ each time for Bosch Icons. I am impressed how clean a sweep these wipers do on my glass. Not to mention it will only cost me $16 to replace the rubber next year.

If you buy the Bosch Icons at OReillys they have a one year in store replacement warranty no questions asked.

This issue and a 110 mile round trip is exactly, why I skipped the free oil changes. My time/money/peace of mind is better spent doing my own maintenance.

LOL. I’m thinking they’re just going to let the OP keep the ‘rental’ at this point.

Dude I freaking hated the highlander loaner. Everything about it sucked. Except for the center console. That was hoss. It could fit enough five guys burgers for a whole family.
