So yes, Shane took me for a ride in his rig; I've ridden in semis before, but not one this new and not one with an automatic transmission! Shane can drive an 18-speed, but this particular truck is an automatic. I can drive a stick shift, but I've never driven a vehicle that has three pedals and more than six speeds. I also do not know how to double clutch or rev-match...

But again, Shane's current rig is an automatic; You can see where this is going...

Shane asked me if I wanted to drive his rig in the mall parking lot; I was afraid to! If he was an owner/operator and it was his truck, I probably would have said yes, but it was his company's truck and if anything went wrong it could cost Shane his job at a minimum and I would feel awful. It was tempting, but I just settled for riding shotgun...

 

Almost 400K on this beast, and it isn't even paid off yet!

Looks like you had fun, I messed around with some 18 wheelers in the parking lots at work and that was enough to satisfy the urge.

Pete's changing the oil three days earlier than planned because this trip to Harrisburg was very spur-of-the-moment, I'll be at 150K before the end of the week, and I'm going to Carlisle for the Import Nationals this weekend; My truck is going in for replacement of the cam cover gasket, the remaining three injectors, and the brake switch on Monday, which was when it was originally scheduled for an oil change.

 

Yeah, my friend Gwyn got it for me when she was in Connecticut; Why?

 

I've never driven anything bigger than a Ford F-350 dually, but I'm told that driving manual is most of the fun of being a truck driver...

 

Do you have a CDL?

 

Yeah, it's like .04 or something; That law is stupid and I think it should only apply when you're actually driving a commercial vehicle. My friend Dave has a class A, and could get a DUI in his Ford Explorer on a Saturday night; So damn stupid!

 

.02?!?! Is that a Colorado thing or a federal thing? I've never driven drunk, but I guarantee you I've driven with a BAC of well over .02 on numerous occasions; No need to worry about getting pulled over for no front license plate in PA, because only one is required here!

 

Shane doesn't drink anymore, so he's got nothing to worry about, but like I said I think that .04 when a commercial driver isn't on the job is unfair.
