Swingouts... Lets see them

Tried the search and really only found 2nd gen trucks. Looking to build a swingout when I finish my sas and was wondering how everyone else was doing theres?

 

I know I know Im a second gen......

 

Not a Taco but I just built this one for my Sami. I used a trailer spindle for the hinge. There's more pics on my photobucket.

Yeah I went through that one. Mostly spares in the bed and a few swing outs.

Built mine its been through some evolution, added a swing out with a trailer spindle. Decided a bolt with CV axle end as a handle was way more reliable than a latch plus it doesn't rattle at all. Haven't had a single issue with it. I did like how it looked a bit better before the tire carrier was added though.

I kept mine just basic and simple. I do plan on later maybe adding to it, but it has remained to be seen.

Here's a a bit of a gallery from when I built it. Ignore the tires... I know... They look pathetic compared my current MT/Rs lol

 

Hmm I'm torn between mounting the wheel in the center or to the side. Only pLan on having the tire on there since I have the bed rack with everything else.

Anybody have any pictures of where their spindle and latch are mounted? Thinking of eliminating the tail gate and mounting the spindle more in wards instead of in front of the brake light to keep the current design of my bumper.

 

Mounting is completely up to you, but IMO, I prefer it to off to one side so I have some visibility behind me.

getting mine built by ryan from rat products. most are mounted to the passenger side to offset the weight,.
