You got one of them fancy 01+ mini-header manifolds on there?

That told me the direction the plates go back in the pump, and that there's supposed to be 10 of them so thank you.

My biggest issue is I have a pre 00 pump and a post 01 pump and I know they're different from when I tore em apart a year ago but when I pulled the box out, both pumps ended up in the same bag :bananadead::bananadead:

At least the rebuild kits are still separate and labeled lol

Sorry, all the 3rzs in my life have been 00 and older and I've never come across a used one of the mini header. The one I have installed I bought brand new from the dealership and the parts guy sold it to me for 285, but I remember seeing them online for around 350

Rebuild the pump and then attempted to rebuild the knuckles. I have new wheel bearings I'd like to install but I'm afraid my 20T press at work isn't going to do the trick

Cool cool. I keep on eye on the local junkyard but also haven't found one yet. My (already reaplaced) cast manifold doesn't seem to have any issues yet... fingers crossed I find one used before it does.

It might do it with a long enough breaker bar. 20T should be enough but usually with a 1.5' bar it's too hard. Need the jack handle to send it appropriately. Or just use the right tool instead, OTC Bearing tamer or OTC Hub tamer.

I've never heard of that tool, pricey kit. I'll look into finding a used one

They're invaluable if you do press in bearings and hubs with any frequency. Screw press design just does it a lot easier. Otherwise it might be something to borrow from a mechanic friend (fairly common tool in the trade). I'm not sure I'd buy one just for this job but it certainly makes it way easier and less scary than rigging it flat and then sending it in the hydro press.

Practicing welding. Frustrating. Beads looking ok 1 outta 5 ish. Idk why I’m so inconsistent. Laying dimes on mig is def an art.

    4 run, 2 don't
Your welds have always looked strong and decent, at least the ones I've seen on your truck build.

The number one thing you need to remind yourself every single time before you lay a bead (especially out of position), is that you need to be comfortable.

Do a dry one, don't cheat yourself. Even if it's a short one. You need to find that you can do said bead from start to finish without anything getting in the way. You also need to start off as comfortable as you can. The less you twist your arms and body, the more consistent you will weld.

It's like when I used to teach precision shooting. Number one rule was natural point of aim. If you get in position, and then adjust yourself to point at the target, you're using your muscles/etc. and you'll literally 1. exhaust yourself and 2. be inconsistent due to your natural point of aim being away from the target.

To alleviate this you simply, pick yourself right up and move until you're naturally pointed where you need to be aiming.

I'd use the same mentality for welding to just be in as much of a comfortable, and natural position as possible.
