    (HP Tuner users..dont condemn me)

I did a firmware upgrade of the dinosaur OVTune handheld device and notice that it can now do cool color monitoring stuff. Along with datalogging of some sort. Kinda cool (for me!)

That’s pretty cool. I have an original handheld, that’s what I went to after the TRD flash and after all you guys bamboozled me into all these mods. Lol. If anyone needs it, I’ll mail it to you.

You got a 3D printer? I recently got into the hobby. I went a little nuts with it for a while there and ended up with 3 printers, but now I’ve settled down a little.

Lol no I do not. I found a thread on here and a few guys bought it from a guy making them. It was an older thread but I emailed the guy anyways. He got back to me and I went from there. It’s a pretty sweet piece.

Been thinking of getting an Ultragauge.. I have torque all set up on a spare phone and I use that... when I remember to charge it and turn it on. So something more permanent and hardwired in would be nice.

Don’t hesitate any longer! For the 1st gen with the low bandwidth K-line ECU, the scangauge is good, but for the better 2nd gen ECU, the UltraGauge is the better choice in my opinion.

the only two downsides to the UltraGauge:
    • blue backlight and “negative” style LCD screen
    • No TPMS reading/display from what I’ve researched. (Please let me know if you know how to program for this!)

The scangauge benefits are a RGB backlight and can display TPMS pressures.

There is the Ultragauge blue. It's a Bluetooth adapter and you use your phone. Has day/night mode with lots of color options. You can put in new or custom pids if you know the code string. Or hex I decimal, or whatever the hell it's called. :annoyed:

Edit: all though that don't help @XPOTRPR
My bad. Just listing another option.

    That looks great!

I have both too, but was unaware of the firmware update. Might have to play with that a bit...

In my experience, it monitors more parameters, but what version provides datalogging?

Touche! I think its more about having monitors ready than having a phone charged or open. I have been doing that route for years and grabbed a deal on an ultra gauge and have up both trans tempted, coolant, airt tempts as well as g/s. I pull out the HP when I need to data log but do not have it installed 24/7.

@JasonLee interesting if we could get TPMS. If there are settings might be possible.

People have been buying android head units and displaying the TPMS with those, so it seems like an available parameter over OBD II. Also, available on a scangauge.
Just need to know the program parameters to see it on the UltraGauge.

Yah I haven’t been able to get it to work on mine but also don’t have one that connects to OBD. ( my android HU ) seems it does exist.

The data is definitely available and you don't have to have an android HU to display it. I get individual tire pressure, voltage, AFR, transmission and coolant temp, intake temp in addition to other gauges that I currently have hidden on my Kenwood HU with the maestro data link.

I messed around with the handheld device and I'm glad that I didnt junk it. It's turning out to be a cool little gizmo or maybe until the initial awe wears off for me. I documented it here. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...or-indigo-ink-pearl-8p4.757165/#post-27312900

    @XPOTRPR

Permanent (but removable) and hardwired (plugged to obd2 port. Cable is long enough).

My UG mount is high on my list of "$ well spent". I made a post about it years back, but I think its made by the same guy that did @JuanitoBunito.

    20220511_103436.jpg

And the rear of the UG is accessible to use the Menu/Reset Up/Down buttons.

@SUMOTNK thanks. I may try my hand at making a nice mount for another location. I dont want it there personally.. as I use the sunglasses holder all the time.
