It really is easy. It was just the process of learning what the new versions of the tune files were and that Toyota's software doesn't recognize it. After that, it just adds one small step, then you can update and reflash. No biggie.

I just went thru this, @tonered and @mZiggy and a few others were very helpful. Look here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ecu-tsb-update.562550/

In prep for the new tune coming out, I contacted Maggy and told them my new ecu number, and next day they sent me the new tune no problem, no questions asked. It was a little sketchy for me, only because I lack the confidence and knowhow but it was quite easy when all said and done. I actually feel confident now to do again when necessary.

I wish you were closer to me, I will help in a heartbeat. Would be my way of giving back to this great community of Tacoma enthusiasts who has shared tons of knowledge. Someday I will help someone!

With TS, you also get the capability to do the available customizations and run any diagnostics if ever needed.

I have had folks tell me that turning those off was worth the cost of a tune with all those other changes just being icing on the cake. LoL!

I also drop the nugget about chopping the speaker off the instrument panel. I don't think anyone else has gone that far yet. Since I did that about 18mo or so ago, I have only forgot the turn signals once, more because I was gabbing on the Baofeng. Hahaha!

    Yes.

Follow the step by steps in the 1st Post of the ECU Update thread. A/V completely off from download until you are finished with the entire installation. A/V will delete the key gen file when you unzip it.

No. The same Tactrix that you have been using for your S/C works with TS.

    did they keep your software?

I've come across a few people in this situation, who reached out to Magnuson to get the updated tune for their updated ecu cal and got no answer, and I suspect it's because Magnuson probably checks your info against their customer log and sees that the SHOP is the customer, because the shop kept the software that you are entitled to as the customer. Therefore, magnuson thinks you're some dick that's trying to get a free tune.

this is my theory anyway. it's fucked up

yeah, I have a tester who is actually permanently on YW I think due to this being the case; Magnuson won't return his emails regarding getting an updated tune for his updated ecu. If I never had a reason to try my best to give a tune with no issues, I certainly did after that.
